We have just returned home after spending 4 nights at Forty Seven Hotel in Rome. We knew this hotel had excellent reviews , and it did not disappoint. The success of the hotel ,is that they have got all the basics up to a fantastic standard. Modern contemporary design, with Italian granite and marble, extremely friendly and helpful staff in... Hotel was okay, we stayed in the suite and obviously it was a good sized room. The terrace is a good touch and we ate out on there for a few times. The concierge wasnt much help and didnt really notice our rooms being tidied or anything when we were out. The best thing about this hotel was location as... More

We stayed at the Fortyseven Hotel without knowing anything about it beforehand. I was extremely pleased when we arrived: it was clean, airy, with beautiful wooden floors in our room, and a travertine bathroom. The breakfast was lovely and fresh with excellent coffee, and breakfast tables were covered in very clean white linen. The only point I could fault them... More

We loved our stay at forty seven. The room was large, modern, and very clean. The king size bed (rare for Rome) was a welcomed bonus for tired travelers. The staff was pleasant, informative, and extremely helpful. The breakfast was great and even had hot items. Would not hesitate to stay there again. The location was great (easy walk to... More

The hotel has been designed in unobtrusive good taste -- and that is high praise. But the highest praise of all goes to the staff, who were cheerfully engaging, showed infinite patience with some completely hapless arrivals and above all were not afraid to show that rich, sly sense of humour that is such an essential component of the Roman... The first hotel I have stayed in two years in a row... just as good the second time. The staff are really excellent and very knowledgeable about travel, sights, restaurants etc etc. We had a day down to Florence (by train). Book 1st on the Eurostar as 2nd class can be very crowded and not air conditioned! THe travel advisor... More

My wife and I stayed at the Fortyseven Hotel for four nights in October 2007. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would recommend the hotel to others. The key highlights of the hotel were the following: - Modern and clean room; - Professional and courteous staff; all were fluent in English) - Reasonably central location (e.g., within 10-15... The room was elegant and spacious. The rooftop resturant was perfect for ambiance and food was very good. The location near the Forum and Circus Maximus was wonderfully convenient as it was an easy walk to all the "old Rome" sites. Would definately recommend Taxi, Bus or Metro for trip to Vatican though.

Staying in Aventine

Neighborhood Profile
Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighborhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
