We stayed here last year and loved it here so much that we returned this year! I have nothing bad to say about this wonderful hotel. The location is wonderful. We practically walked everywhere during our stay. If you splurge a little, I recommend getting a room with views of ancient Rome. We received a bottle of wine upon our... More

Room 214 was huge in comparison to european standards. Nice view. Breakfast was just OK. Great location - situated near the Circus Maximus and Coliseum. Vatican City is about a 30 minute walk away. All of Rome is quite compact, we walked everywhere. Lots of restaurants across the Tiber River within 10 minutes walk.

Stayed there our first and last night in Italy before and after our time in Tuscany. The location is great for site seeing, shopping, and easy access to the FCO and Rome Termini station. The staff was helpful and breakfast was very good. Our room the 1st night was generous king size room. Our last night room was smaller and... More

This may be the best hotel in which my wife and I have ever stayed. Our deluxe double room was spacious and elegant with views of the Temple of Hercules and the Temple of Portunus. Both temples are just across the street. The Coliseum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, Roman Forum, Botanical Gardens, Trastevere, and Villa Sciarra are all within... More

A wonderful art deco hotel surrounding its own courtyard. It has very comfortable public spaces that are tranquil & removed from the bustle of the city outside. Amenities in the stylish rooms are very good, lots of modern gadgets. There is an element of traffic noise at night & early in the morning as the hotel is on a main... More

This was the fourth hotel we stayed at during a 2-week honeymoon in Europe (others were in London, Paris, and Venice), and it was definitely the nicest/most luxurious of the four. We were surprised upon check in that the hotel had graciously upgraded us to a larger room with a view because we were on our honeymoon. The location of... More

Dear guest, Thank you for your detailed review. I am happy to hear that you were glad with your upgrade, but sorry to hear that you were disgusted by the placement of your hair flat iron in the bidet. I have checked with the person who cleaned your room and was told the iron was on the floor, so she... More

Very very nice hotel. Small and super accommodating. Very much the boutique kinda feel. Phenomenal location - on the edge of everything - smacked between ancient Rome (the Roman Forum is it’s back yard), and Trastevere which it’s facing. Gym was PACKED with every machine you can think of and/or need (very unusual for Europe). Breakfast was nice, way more... More

From the minute we got there until the minute we left, our visit could not have been more perfect. We were greeted immediately by the concierge who sat us down and checked us in. She gave us a map, and highlighted all of the "do not miss" locations and showed us how to walk to them. The room was clean... More

My husband and I went to Rome for a 3 night stay this week. It was my first time in Rome. We were so lucky to find this jewel of a hotel on Expedia and book it. On our arrival by taxi, someone immediately opened the door to greet us, and we sat down and got booked in by a... More

Ideally placed for The Roman Forum, Palatine Hill and the Colesseum. The rest of the major attractions including the Vatican City and choice of restaurants are within walking distance, but wear flat shoes. Alternatively there is a bus stop outside the hotel and the " hop on hop off" buses stop nearby. This is a lovely compact hotel, the room... More

Staying in Aventine

Neighborhood Profile
Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighborhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
