I'll start with the positive aspects, because there were some. The location was good - right by the main Termini station, but down a side road, so fairly quiet but still very convenient for getting around the city. The breakfast arrangement was good too - although the hostel itself doesn't have facilities for breakfast, for 2 euros you can get... More

I stayed in Hostel Beautiful with three friends, in a four room dorm. The hostel was located close to Termini, which is the only top of the hostel. The hostel itself was old, filthy and not well-maintained. It was not safe, as the main entrance was open and everyone could walk in without being seen by front office staff. Our... More

This hostel is all about emergencies, low-cost and a place to sleep. The staff was nice but the room was cold, smelling like cigarettes (probably other guests were smoking, but the blankets and sheets were also kind of smelly) and the private shower wasn't working, so I had to use the shared bathroom, but the water was hot and the... A group of us lost 150 Euros to this scam of a hostel, please do not fall into this trap! A traumatic experience that I would not wish upon anyone. Top of my head the horrors of staying here: bed bugs, dirty sheets (blood stains, hair and even shoe prints), shower is filled with grim and faeces found stuck to... More

When it comes to getting around Rome, the train system is cheap and efficient, thats why you want to stay in this area. Hostel Beautiful is right next to the central train station of Rome and you can be at any of the attractions within minutes from there. There are some great little restaurants in the streets surrounding Hostel Beautiful... More

We stayed at Hotel Beauty for 2 nights. Upon walking upstairs, we were immediately greeted by a cheerful lady named Tiziana who was super helpful with a great understanding of Rome. She showed us all of the best places to go, times and where to buy tickets so we would not have had to wait in line. The location is... More

People, DO NOT GO IN HERE. The place is a bed bug nest. The first night, couple of people were already bitten with huge bite marks, and the owner blamed them for bringing the bed bugs from another place. Check the reviews, there are a lot of bed bugs in this place. The bathrooms on the first floor were disgusting,... More

All the service was incredible. The rooms were clean and spacious. It's located near the main attractions of Rome and all main forms of transportation are easily accessible from the hostel. The Receptionists (Khan) made me feel at home before entering the hostel. He explained to me how to find the most interesting places of the city. Overall it was... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
