This is our third stay at the Pio. The previous two, however, were because we were upgraded in the low season from their sister hotel, Aventino. We love staying on the Aventino Hill. It is SO quiet, whilst at the same time being very close to the centre of town. It is also extremely well placed for public transport, being... More

We've been fortunate to travel a great deal and would recommend this hotel. The hotel is lovely and charming, with an outdoor breakfast area that is absolutely enchanting. The breakfast was terrific, with choices ranging from pastries, croissants, eggs, bacon, cold meats and cheeses, fruits, yogurts, cereals. Fabulous coffee! The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the rooms... More

Just come back from three days in Rome and stayed in the lovely VILLA SAN PIO .This hotel is rated three stars but it should be four star as the rooms are so elegant with old paintings and antique furniture, very clean too with an amazing buffet breakfast which you enjoy in the lovely tropical gardens. The hotel is situated... More

We were pleased overall with our stay and thought it good value for money. Breakfast is great, but food at other times of the day is very limited so be prepared to eat out. Lovely quiet location within walking distance of the Metro and Colosseum and Roman Forum.

Excellent stay!!! Many advantages, very close and within walking distance of many visitor sites e.g. Colosseum, Pyramide, Circus Max, ancient churches, great restaurants and accessible to public transportation. Best part is the personal and friendly staff who go out of their way to make your overall stay memorable. They provide a very intimate ambiance and personal touch not experienced in... More

I took my son for his birthday and we loved the hotel and the area is very nice too with good service and very friendly staff. They couldn't do enough for us. A short walk to the Key Hole is a must with stunning views over Rome..

We had a reasonably priced superior room, on an upper floor corner with great balcony, and view of city,. Quiet and comfortable, within a good residential neighborhood. Walking distance of various forms of public transport, tourist attractions, nightclubs and restaurants. Great breakfast, and friendly staff.

Staying in Aventine

Neighborhood Profile
Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighborhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
