The hotel is like a resort, full of greenery and orange trees! The rooms are charming and old style, but much more spacious compared to the average room size across Europe. The staff and manager were very friendly and extremely helpful. It was raining the day we landed, which is unusual for this time of the year, but the manager... More

First the positives: the staff were very professional and helpful; the hotel is near the Colosseum and other tourist attractions, the breakfast is good, the internet is ok and I was given a good price deal. However, the room I was given is almost the size of the king bed that filled it. So, you really needed to negotiate the... More

The staff at the hotel, bar and breakfast were outstanding. The area is quiet and the terrace overlooks a beautiful neighborhood. The room was comfortable and very clean. It was my father's highlight to get to breakfast in the morning and relax. We would stay here again.

The room we had on the 3rd floor was so nice it has 3 windows that overlooked the garden, the quiet street and the main entrance to the hotel. Hotel staffs was so helpful with our needs that I couldn't think what else I could ask for. Complimentary breakfast was a definite plus. Colleseum was just 10 minutes walk and... More

Although this Hotel is only 10 walking minutes from the Colosseum it is in a very calm place. STaff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is OK and the Bar is nice. Maybe it could be open 1 hour longer than is does :-) The only drawback i had was that my room was a single room with the door... More

What a great find after a gruelling journey to Rome. We were given a top floor room with a sunny terrace, even though we had not paid top dollar. The suite was grand and quiet and the breakfasts ample in the adjoining building with glass-house overlooking the gardens. Welcoming staff and a peaceful lovely spot.

I spent 4 days in Rome and stayed at the Villa San Pio. The check in process was very efficient. The hotel has outdoor areas for drinks and meals, with covered ways between the buildings in case of rain. Gardens are very attractive. My room on the ground floor was clean and well equipped. The bathroom was clean and had... More

My wife and I came here on our honeymoon. On our arrival we discovered there was a mistake with our reservation - they had two rooms reserved for us instead of just one. We were worried that they would charge us for both rooms but after contacting their manager, everything got sorted out. The staff were helpful and courteous. The... More

Located on the Aventine, the Hotel Villa San Pio is tucked away from the hectic pace and noise of Rome. To get to the normal tourist sights or business destinations requires either a taxi or a bit of walking. Buses, street cars, and the metro can be easily reached within a five to ten minute walk. Although the rooms are... More

Staying in Aventine

Neighborhood Profile
Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighborhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
