The hotel is situated in a quite location, but not far from most of the historical attractions in Rome. The train and metro stations were conveniently accessible. The rooms were fine. The breakfast spread had a nice variety and the dining area was surrounded by beautiful greenery.

The Aventino chain of restaurants are all good. Stayed in Villa San Pio this time and the location and environment were as good as the others. Location great - short walk to Metro Pyramide and a great delicatessen full of Italian delights. No restaurant but the very friendly bar staff will let you order take away pizza or bring in... More

The hotel is very close to the sights of Rome. It is a walking distance to one to the stops for the tour buses and very convenient if you want to tour the city. The hotel is good value for money as it is comfortable and quiet.

Over the last 10 years I have stayed at the San Pio on numerous occasions during business trips to the FAO. Superb location (fresh air and pine trees), comfortable spacious rooms, good breakfast, and excellent service. I travel a lot and this is one of my top 3 hotels worldwide.

Staying in Aventine

Neighborhood Profile
Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighborhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
