We stayed here for 5 days in March 2013. The staff were courteous, friendly, helpful and funny, especially the manager Antonio, & Gianfranco who was a great to talk to about music and gigs, etc. There's easy access to the city centre by tram or bus, and the breakfast was very good. The hotel is modestly priced and is well-placed... More

My girlfriend at I stayed at the Villa San Lorenzo Maria Hotel from February 25-28, 2013. I am currently studying abroad in France and have been traveling around over the past three months or so. I can confidently say that this hotel is the best I've stayed at. It's located in a more intimate part of the city that feels... More

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and can honestly say it was the best hotel we have ever stayed in, despite having travelled widely around Europe and the USA. The building itself is lovely to look at both inside and out. The rooms, individually decorated, are spotlessly clean and furnished in keeping with the outside appearance of the... More

My hubby and I took a train to Rome from Pisa, it was midnight when we got to Rome. We grabbed a taxi outside the Termini to the Hotel because the trains do not run that late. It was about 10 euro. I had let the front desk know we would be arriving late so they were expecting us. As... More

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighborhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo may look all street with its pulse in urban art and street food, but don’t be fooled. This gritty student neighborhood immediately east of Termini train station is on the avant-garde rise. Art galleries, curated mural projects by artists like Rome’s favorite Alice, charming cafes, and boutique restaurants are slowly infiltrating the streets of San Lorenzo with counter-culture chic. Don’t worry, San Lorenzo still retains its local vibe with weekend festivals and demonstrations, and is always a hub for Rome’s university student scene.
