We stayed in the Marco Polo Hotel this year June 2015. We booked a double room and was more than happy with it. Spotlessly clean and the bathroom well equipped plenty of clean towels etc. The breakfast consisted of a variety of foods I.e. cereals, toast, jams, meats etc and plenty of tea, coffee and juices. You could have as... More

Stayed here for a weekend in June 2015, the location beside termini is a great positive but that is the only positive for this hotel I am afraid. You may not be aware but this hotel is sharing an old building with several other hotels so this hotel is on the third floor. The first impression of a cadged elevator... More

Dear Mr Cian O' Donoghue, Thank you for your prompt reply. We are pleased to know that you have appreciated our location but i regret to ascertain so much frustration. Anyway i'm pleased to remind you and to clarify the following: - In Rome is usual to find even 4 stars hotels on a floor because there are historical buildings... More

Me and my girlfriend stayed at the Marco Polo hotel in February, earlier this year. Since we are studying, and have a tight budget, we were looking for something affordable, which nonetheless had the class, charm, comfort and cleanliness that would make our stay an enjoyable one. It was also very important to us that we remain close to Rome's... More

Excellent location near Termini which is the central train station. The rooms and toilets are very clean and fully renovated. The staff is friendly and really helpful. Breakfast is decent. Enjoyed my time there

I would like to thank all the magnifico staff at the marco hotel for making my boyfriend and I's holiday to rome so special. The staff went above and beyond to help us and advise us on the best places to visit. The hotel had a lovely, traditional, warm and friendly vibe that made our stay in rome perfect. The... More

I stayed here for 1 night as the hotel was around the corner from Rome's Termini station. I was not aware that the hotel does not actually own the entire apartment block - you have to enter the building, take the lift to the 3rd floor and it is then you enter the hotel. The room itself was OK -... More

The hotel is conveniently located behind Termini station. The surroundings may not look inviting, the hotel itself is quite good. Friendly staff, nice breakfast (especially for Italian standards) and comfortable, yet outdated rooms. Would come back here next time!

When the girl friend & I first arrived outside The Marco Polo Hotel we wondered if we had been dropped of at the right place, as there is an old looking entrance that leads to a lift that takes you up to the third floor were the actual hotel is situated but don't let that put you off, as once... Dear Sir, The hotel is located very close to Rome Termini and in a safe and secure area. The police station is only one block from us. Hotel cleanliness is probably the most appreciated hotel quality from all our guests. The size of the rooms depend on the typologies (Economy,Standard, Superior). However, all our rooms follow the European quality standards.... More

This was our third trip to Rome and we wanted a base just for somewhere to sleep, we knew we were going to be out all day! The hotel is 3-4 minutes walk max from Termini station. Breakfast is typical European, no frills but o.k. Stayed with another couple and our rooms varied enormously, we also moved rooms and the... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
