We stayed with our two young kids in a 1-bedroom apartment on the 3rd floor for a week over New Year's and it was a very relaxing vacation. The location was the best part about Leonina - midway between the Colosseum and Termini. We made breakfast with groceries from the Elite shop on Via Cavour, and got dinners takeaway from... More

Stayed here 3 days, location was more important to us more than anything, literally bang in the middle of all the tourist attractions which is what we wanted, when we checked in we had to pay something called 'city tax' which i knew nothing about which was 16 euros. lifts are absolutely tiny, im a big guy and just about... My first stay in Rome and picked residenza leonina as we planned on cooking during our stay and we got quite a big room. Location is fantastic as it was near to cavour station just one stop away from termini station. Attractions are all within a walking distance (colosseum, trevi, piazza navona, pantheon, roman forum, trastevere and many many more)... More

The reason this place gets 4 rather than 3 stars is it's location, and for that reason we would probably stay again if we were heading back to Rome. It's within easy walking distance of the Colosseum and forum, and is 2 minutes from a Metro station if you want to get further afield. It's also a local area with... More

Good points-Nice rooms, centrally located, friendly staff. Negative points-after 6pm till 8 am nobody is available. If someone is coming in this time please get the gate code or else you would be standing outside.

This place is in a lovely area, which has an 'alternative' & bohemian charm and it is close to all the main sites; these are its strong points. It is good value for money but some rooms are worse than others. We were unfortunately placed on the ground floor & our rooms were quite basic with poor ventilation and facilites... More

We (4) friends were here 8th sept for 3 nights .The room we were given was on the ground floor by the lift .The room was shocking with damp patches on the bathroom and bedroom ceiling , also a strong smell of damp in the rooms. 2 small windows that only opened a few inches ,lots of tiny black flys... Stayed here in the 2nd week of July 2014 with my family (3 couples). The location i pretty good with a 5-10 minute walk to the bus routes as well as the Metro station. The neighborhood itself is incredibly charming with lots of small cafes/restaurants close by. At the same time it is a quiet area so no noise issues.... More

The Pros, this was a perfect location and had just the right amount of space for 4 people. There was a nice pizzeria and ice cream shop all a few steps from the front door. The staff were all very friendly and always available to help answer questions. They spoke very good English as well. We liked that our door... More

This hotel is located in a nice local neighbourhood facing a small piazza with a beer shop, pizzeria & gelati shop nearby. Lots of other restaurants and stores nearby for convenience with a good local feel. Our initial room had a dodgy lock, wasn't very clean and had a leaky toilet ceiling, but the hotel staffers were nice to immediately... More

Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
