This is a great place to stay in Rome. We had a private room w private bath down the hall in the building around the corner from the Beehive entrance on Via Marghera. The room decor was minimalist and non- hotel-like, which is a great thing, and everything was very clean. Attention to security was evident and appreciated. Everyone was... More

Super close to the central Termini Station, the beehive is a beautiful, clean, and comfortable hostel, with friendly and very helpful staff. Breakfast is not included but is available at a reasonable price at the basement cafe.Towels and lockers are included and the bed is very comfortable. Staff are fantastic and know everything you might need to know including bus... More

Two blocks from Termini, The Beehive is always our first choice when staying in Rome. It's affordable, secure and has a great little cafe in the basement so no need to go far for your morning coffee. They also host dinners in the cafe a few times a week. Their rooms range from private with bathroom to private with shared... More

We stayed at the beehive in a private double room for four nights. The hotel is two blocks from termini station but feels like its own private neighborhood. It is not seedy or feels unsafe, even at night. The hotel has a great outdoor terrace and only a few rooms in the main building making it feel like you're staying... More

Staff speaks English very well and are helpful with suggestions, making phone calls on your behalf, etc. Great location just a couple of minutes walk from Termini. We stayed 1 night in the main hotel, and 2 nights in "The Sweets" - the offsite location just around the block. In both cases our bathroom was across the hallway, which was... More

It is always a pleasure to return to the Beehive and its very welcoming staff. For this most recent visit we stayed in Clover, one of their off-site apartments. Our triple room was spacious and comfortable. Big towels, nice showers and a full kitchen at our disposal. Always super clean! Choosing to stay near Termini works well for me as... More

Amazing rose in the thorns surrounding termini station! A little balinese inspired oasis escape from the busy streets of Rome. The highlights were the cleaniliness, the restaurant (possibly the only one in Rome with vegan dishes) and the beautiful Indonesian receptionist that was always incredibly polite and helpful! Thanks!

Told us how to get around using the metro tickets and where the tourist traps are. - shared bathroom was clean... More

We are delighted we stumbled across this gem. Steve and Linda have created a warm and welcoming environment full of colour and interesting bits of artwork both inside and in the gorgeous intimate garden. The atmosphere is positively filled with superlatives, its colourful, individual, stylish, homely, relaxed and easy to feel 'at home' in. We loved it and hope to... More

I found The Beehive through Rick Steves’ 2014 Italy guide book. This place turned out to be a gem. Its location is great (only 2 blocks from Termini train and Metro station). I was in Italy for 2 months and stayed at The Beehive on 4 separate occasions. My first stay was for 2 wks. The front staff are very... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
