My teenage son and I stayed at the Beehive for three nights and really loved it. When you go through the gates you feel like you are in a special little pocket of Rome. It feels quiet and yet it isn't totally quiet, if that makes sense. You can hear Italian voices passing by outside in the street and watch... More

I stayed in the Sweets with 2 teenage boys for several nights and could not have been happier with the choice. We found the location perfect, close to the station but not noisy. The room was simple but very clean and comfortable. I especially loved the little balcony for morning coffee. There is also a nice common area with dishes... More

Our family of 4 stayed at the Beehive for 4 nights in a private room with shared bathroom facilities. The rooms were roomy, clean, and comfortable and we quite enjoyed the outdoor space for a quiet, relaxing afternoon. Although a bit of a walk to the main sight seeing areas, it is convenient to the train station. We didn't use... More

Dear BCtravelers2014, I'm glad your family enjoyed your recent stay at The Beehive. As you wrote, at The Beehive's main facility, we do not have a kitchen that guests can use. However, we have other rooms a ten minute walk away from the main building that have a self-catering kitchen, so if any future guests want to have a kitchen,... More

I stayed at the Beehive six years ago and again in September 2014. The accommodation is a great place to relax at the end of the busy sightseeing day. It has a mix of room sizes including a dormintory. While rooms (or at least ours) don't have ensuites, there were plenty of bathrooms, so I never had to wait to... More

Dear sshaunaa, Thanks for your very kind words. We do have rooms with private bathroom now that we didn't have 6 years ago when you stayed with us the first time so hopefully, you can stay in one of those rooms next visit! We truly value and appreciate our repeat guests and look forward to having you stay with us... More

I squeezed in one day in Rome in May 2014 on a layover and stayed the night the dorm, which was totally fine. I decided then and there to make our next holiday Italy. I loved the Termini location. We booked a double room with a shared bath, which my husband objected to. But I knew it would be OK... More

We had a great 5 nights at the Beehive! Theywere very friendly and accommodating when we mixed up our schedule and needed to stay one more night! The room had plenty of space and was really colourful and clean, as was the rest of the hotel. It's a good location, right by Termini Station, and we could walk to almost... More

I stayed at the beehive with a friend at the beginning of March and had a pleasant experience there. The location was great close to Termini station (especially when hauling our luggage to the trains back to the airport) and the staff was extremely helpful when we were planning our activities around the city. The facilities were extremely clean and... More

My husband and I stayed at The Beehive in October 2014. We booked it because we loved how they offered vegetarian/vegan meals and it had a very hip, bright feel to it based on the pictures. I can't speak to the vegetarian meals because we actually didn't have any while we were there, although we did have breakfast there a... More

Dear JoannaAndNathan, Thank you for your recent comments about your stay. However, I do strongly disagree with your assessment that there "isn't much to do or see" in our area. Located within a 10 minute walk from us is Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore, Basilica Santa Maria degli Angeli and Basilica Santa Prassede, three beautiful basilicas in Rome; Palazzo Massimo -... More

I stayed for four nights and I can't fault this place in anyway. Handy location, great bed in the dorms . heated at night. Cool during the day. Never had to wait for the toilet or shower. Fast broadband, great advice from reception, chef made a great breakfast (extra) and even the maintence guy chated. This place was spotless quiet... More

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff who were very accomadating and spent time showing us where to go on a map. Our twin classic was squeaky clean and we had a private sink and safe box. The bathrooms were also clean and towels are provided. Overall a very good value for money hostel and fabulous location by the station.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
