We saw good reviews about The Beehive and decided to try that for our trip to Rome last year. The rooms were bigger than we expected. We stayed in one of the bedrooms within an apartment. The sitting room was cosy and kitched had everything you would need for making breakfast. Stable wifi connection. It's very to close to the... More

My wife and I stayed at the Beehive for 3 days in mid April. Although bathrooms and showers are located just down the hall the guest soon finds that it ain't about the bathroom location at all, it's really about the personality of this particular hotel. To us it seemed to be a collection point for travelers who were interesting... More

This was our first visit to Rome and The Beehive was a perfect choice. The location was great, so near the Termini station. the location was easy to find. So helpful to have English speaking staff while adjusting to a new city. Steve, the owner, often works the front desk and is a wealth of information about the history, culture... More

My sister and I stayed at this hostel for one night in April 2015, and had a great experience. We had an evening flight into the airport, so by the time we'd got the train and arrived at the hostel it was close to 10pm. Location was really short walking distance from the train station, but in a quiet neighbourhood... More

Quiet and clean. If I didn't end up staying so far out of the city center I planned on coming back here to do homework, because the lounge is a great place to get work done. The rooms and hostel beds are as cheap as you can find. Ask about the offsite rooms, with the kitchens, if you plan on... More

I really loved the Beehive! It's such a great place with super unique vibes. The breakfast is amazing and won't disappoint. It's a great place located to some pretty cool areas in Rome. It's also super close to the bus and train station if you need to travel. A great place to relax and unwind before taking on Rome! They... More

Stayed 3 nights with kids. Pros: 1. Fantastic location 2. Though no private toilets, but were very clean 3.Excellent recommendations given by Steve (lucky me) 4.Very clean comfortable place Cons: 1. Can't think of anything. For price benefit ratio, very good value. Do eat at the Pizza place where they sell by weight and must must try the gelato place... More

I have never booked accommodations in another country, my husband always does it.I was traveling with my grandaughter and her fiancé'. The Beehive made everything so easy for me, and put us in a B&B within walking distance of The Vatican. We Loved our accommodations, they even arranged a car to pick us up at the airport. We were a... More

I stayed 3 nights in "The Clover" in rooms #1 and #5 in May 2015 (two separate trips). Both are nice, very small rooms for the single traveler with a shared bath and shared full kitchen. The ceiling fan in #5 needs service (it makes a loud shrieking sound). I'm glad it wasn't excessively hot when I was there so... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
