This hotel is plagued with issues! Firstly, the airc onditioning in our room didn't work, but after inspecting how mouldy and old the unit is, I wouldn't feel safe breathing the air from it anyways so we left it alone. Second, and most importantly, the night clerk made us leave the key at reception when we left for the evening,... more

This is just to echo the other positive reviews. We paid only £40/night to stay here and we had a good sized room, working air-conditioning, comfortable beds and an adequate breakfast. The neighbourhood is quiet and safe and there is ample room for parking cars. To get the Metro into downtown Rome is a 10 minute walk followed by a... more

Hotel Silva, situated between Via Nomentana and Piazza Bolognia, is in a central but quite area of Rome with transport nearby that can take one to any part of Rome in reasonable time. The staff of the hotel are multilingual, welcoming and more than helpfull. The hotel and the rooms are impeccable clean all the time. The attached restaurant is... more

This hotel was nice-there were not a lot of rooms, pretty flowers outside. The air conditioning was terrible though. We were in August during about 95-110 degree (F) (45 degrees C) weather during the day so the rooms were very hot-the air conditioning ran, but the air coming out was not even cold, we had to take ice cold showers... more

We spent three very hot nights at Hotel Silva at the end of June. We went to the front desk to find out why the airconditioner could not cool the room, but the clerk could not speak English. We did pantomime to ask for a fan, but there is not one to borrow. Our room on the top floor was... more

We agree with the comments of other visitors that the hotel staff are friendly, even the night porter, and the maids extremely efficient. There was ample hot water and our bathroom was new and clean. The breakfast was somewhat minimalistic. If you are situated over the adjacent restaurant you are treated to an array of cooking smells, and loud noises... more

We stayed at Hotel Silva during the busy period of August. As a three star hotel it really did exceed our expectations. The room was a reasonable size, with two single beds, and a mini fridge. The bathroom was very clean, with a powerful shower, with plenty of hot water. The hotel provided breakfast. Even though it was quite basic... more

We stayed for new year and paid 390 euro for 3 nights. There were various problems: a window that would not close adequately letting in cold air, poor lighting in the room, hole in the wall to the outside stuffed with carrier bags, small television poorly positioned in the corner of a dark tiny room, iron on request without a... more

The hotel is good value, however, there is not much close by in the way of shops, restaurants etc, but its only a 5 minute walk to Piazza Bologna and the Metro. The No. 62 bus is ideal for Central Rome and all the sights. The restaurant 'Sud' next door was excellent. We found all the staff friendly & helpful... more
