It was hot in Rome but the air-con did not work. The safe did not work. The room was small and dark. The hotel is old and dated. Wifi was very very slooooow! I did not open the window initially but in the middle of the night I had to open it as I could not breath! The room was... More

The Hotel Madison is classified as a 3*** and is right on Via Marsala, less than a minute walk on the right of Roma Termini station; I stayed one night for a business meeting the following day and I have to admit that either I spent a horrible night in a small room so hot I could have been in... Bed was comfy, and the room relatively spacious. The shower was awkward to use, it was over the bath and there was no shower curtain. So everything got wet. It also ran hot and cold. The breakfast was ok, and had scrambled eggs and bacon as well as fruit and pastries. Wifi was useless, and they recommended I use an... More

This hotel is perfect. Located seconds away from Termini Train station and just a few stops from the historical centre of Rome. Shops can be found next to the hotel. Rooms are clean, breakfast is typical Italian and the coffee is amazing!

The room was extremely small..just room for the bed, but the bathroom was very nice. Breakfast was ordinary. The staff were efficient but not very friendly. The view from our window was an alley and direct insight to another room. We enjoyed our stay however!. It all felt like a genuine Italien experience. I would not hesitate to book here... More

Do not expect a high standard accomodation however for the price you pay the location is excellent as its a 2 minute walk to the Termini station from hwere you can access all points of interest in Rome. The rooms are old ok but you only use the room to shower and sleep. The breakfast is a buffet with a... More

Read bad reviews before we arrived so I was nervous, but was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is so, so central I can't stress it enough. We walked to almost every attraction (colossuem, pantheon, Roman forum, all the fountains on this side of the banks) in 30mins (except the Vatican which was a 20 min bus ride because we were tired... Was there October 15-18, 2014. Cash only. They have some bank problems and forced me to pay twice for my room - with card and cash. Still waiting for my money back. Rude stuff has spoke with me as I am a thief or planed that situation. My room was tiny and different from the pictures provided by booking.com, the... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
