I was pleasantly surprised after some of the previous posts. Ok it's not the Ritz, but our room was clean and roomy. Breakfast is disappointing if you're a Brit, but there was cereal and pastries alongside the traditional cold meats and cheese. The coffee was a tad strange and I would recommend you ask the waitress for a latte or... More

Only 5min. walk to Termini & Terravision bus connection to airport. Ideal 3-4 day Rome visit. Visit Rome every year & stayed in a few hotels most are very basic. This was our third stay at the Galles, Rooms & bathrooms are kept very clean & comfortable, the breakfast room is cleaned constantly & the quality of the breakfast is... More

I'm not sure what the other people saw when they stayed here but this had to be the most dirtest hotel I've ever seen. This was part of the Italian Flavours that we booked and I think they give the worst rooms to people who book tours. I would have felt cleaner sleeping in the bathroom. I could not believe... More

Room given was so noisy due to the vicinity near roadside, couldn't sleep well. Facilities provided are not at all worth the money spent. Breakfast was just average. I will never recommend this to anyone.

We stayed at Galles Hotel while organizing a Conference on Bioplymers in Rome. We booked 8 rooms and from the beggining we were disapointed when one of us was sent to a different hotel due to overbooking. The hotel needs desperatly to be renovated. Breakfast is well below the standards for its category.

Not far from TERMINI and close to the metro (100m), it's better to stay there far from the noise of termini. The room (i did not like the style) was clean and the personal service was very good. Very professional team. We did not like that they promise us Internet access but it is not free (5euro the 3 hours)

While the hotel is only 400 metres from the station it's on a busy road. The room was a split two level with beds upstairs and downstairs. Only 1 TV was supplied (on the top level) and we let the kids have that. It was also right on the street with the bathroom room having a frosted glass view of... More

We chose Rome as our wedding destination and chose Hotel Galles particularly because it was close to the embassy. The staff - particularly both Claudia's at the reception - were more than helpful and sweet and bright ladies who helped us out with everything. Very friendly and kind. So were the cleaning ladies. The two down sides were WIFI (you... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
