The worst thing about this hotel is that it is a Faraday cage: no mobile works inside, everybody out on the road talking on mobiles! Internet inside is inexistent. I didn't have a desk for working with my laptop, just a very low table to bend my back. When I reserved the hotel on the web, there was a small... More

Try to stay in the main building. The room we received first was very bad: Dark, hot and noisy. We shared our view and staff offered us new few rooms to choose from. What was fantastic. The room in the main building was good but unfortunately the air conditioning wasn't working in whole hotel. The room was very clean and... More

Don't book this hotel as it is exceptionally dirty and dusty. A friend of ours booked us this hotel which was conveniently next to his address in Rome. Although we were nicely welcomed, the disappointment was when we entered the room. Dust is everywhere. Some areas might have not been cleaned for weeks. The room was in a different building... More

We booked this hotel for 2 nights while in Rome. It is well located for visiting Rome but the hotel is old, tired and very busy. The first night we were put in a room that had 4 single beds crammed in and it was very hot and noisy. When booking we had asked for a quiet room. The air... More

Staff were not very friendly or helpful. No bar/drink service and they would not provide a kettle for the room to allow us to make our own tea/coffee! Breakfast wasn't the greatest! Rooms were clean and tidy.

Really nice hotel. We got a double storeyed room with 3 beds for 3 of us. Very near to the Metro station and Roma Termini making it extremely convenient to roam around Rome. Nearby Pizzerias are also great. The staff were super helpful and nice. Only downside(if any) is slow internet.

I decided to stay in Rome a few more days and the Bed and Breakfast I was in was going to be full so I had to move. I looked on Trip advisor and the Hotel Galles seemed to meet my requirements. I was staying in Trastevere, a fabulous area with little streets to get lost in and fun restaurants... More

We stayed here recently on a family trip and did not enjoy the hotel at all. It was cheap, and we booked it because we had originally planned to travel by train from the Termini Station, which is quite close. We should have known that you get what you pay for! We found the location to be poor--near the station,... More

Location is not good, hotel is divided into 2 parts, older part is very scary, of grandma's time, breakfast not good, ataff though is helpful. Newer part is good though, modern & clean.. Better options are available!!

We have been using the Galles & annexe hotel Prince of Wales for the past few years & have no reason to change. We visit Rome every year for 3 days. The buffet breakfast is good quality & the rooms are good.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
