We stayed here recently on a family trip and did not enjoy the hotel at all. It was cheap, and we booked it because we had originally planned to travel by train from the Termini Station, which is quite close. We should have known that you get what you pay for! We found the location to be poor--near the station,... More

We have been using the Galles & annexe hotel Prince of Wales for the past few years & have no reason to change. We visit Rome every year for 3 days. The buffet breakfast is good quality & the rooms are good.

This hotel is modest and serves well as a base of operation in Rome. Just a few blocks from Roma Termini Station and one block from a Metro stop. There are lots of restaurants in the area adding to the convenience of the location. The rooms are small by US standards but plenty big for a stay of a week... More

The hotel is in good location, close to train station and maybe 25-30 mins walk to Colosseum. Rooms were clean amd comfortable, but shower drain was slow. The duplex layout is nice, but interior colors are dark. It has fridge and safe box. Breakfast was good. We lived in the back of the hotel, the carpet on the staircase needs... More

Rooms are clean & good size. Breakfast is poor. Although its near the termini station if u want to go for sightseeing it's quite far to get by walk. The place is quiet & a bit scary to get late at night alone. Easily can be found hotel in the historic center for the same price.

The hotel has two buildings. Nice and clean hotel with full breakfast. Near metro so you can go all over Rome. Value for money. The employees were very kind and friendly. Highly recomended if you want to visit Rome.

This medium sized hotel is ideally situated within a short walking distance east of Termini, and near the Castro Pretorio metro station which perfect to get around Rome. This area abounds with small hotels, and Galles actually engulfs the Hotel Christina in a connected building nearby, above which our small but clean and modern rooms were located. This actually proved... More

I stayed at this hotel during a family vacation in Rome. It was a mixed experience, but largely negative. The positives - good convenient location within walking distance of Rome Termini station. Whatever limited interaction we had with the staff (mainly reception staff) was pleasant. The negatives - the condition of the hotel. The general interiors, decor, carpets etc. is... More

Small room, surprisingly large bathroom in comparison, clean. We had a room facing the main road, which was noisy, but the windows did a good job at noise isolation - after all, this is Rome, a big city with lots of traffic. The breakfast was averige, and there are many trattorias close by for an evening meal. The big plus... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
