Our one bed studio apartment was everything we hoped for, and more. Close to the nightlife of Trastavere but not so close for it to intrude. Easy links to all other parts of the city. A comfy double bed. A shower to put all others to shame. And a range of restaurants and bars to satisfy all tastes and budgets.... More

We had 2 bedroom ground floor apartment with 2 bathrooms which great for 2 couples. Bed and bathrooms good only downside is a long mirror for getting ready would be good. Kitchen well equipped but seating area not bif enough for more than 2 people. Very clean throughout and can leave cases with very helpful lady cleaner. Good location and... More

We had a lovely 5 night sojourn with our daughter. The apartment was exceptionally clean, with a kitchenette and shower style bathroom. The master bed and pull out couch were very comfortable. It was clearly all recently renovated. Our hostess met us earlier than expected as our flight arrived ahead of schedule. She was friendly and efficient. We loved the... More

We returned for our two week holiday in Rome and once again were fortunate to stay at La Gensola. Luisa the owner and Maribel her assistant always make you feel welcomed and truly understand how to offer the best customer service. From all of the reviews this is such an unusually wonderful place. We rent the studio apartment which is... More

This is a beautiful 2 bed apartment in a fabulous area. It was spotlessly clean, modern, underfloor heating, great showers, comfortable beds and with beautiful authentic beamed ceilings and terracotta floors and shuttered windows. Plenty of space for a family of four surrounded by wonderful restaurants , bars, patisserie and little shops. The only negative, and it's a small one... More

On a trip to Rome with my family, we chose this because it seemed close to where we wanted to be and it looked acceptable. I am happy to say we were pleasantly surprised on both of these points. It is a comfortable walk from most of the major tourist spots around the Forum, Palatine Hill and a little longer... More

The apartment , one of four in a traditional old house had been refurbished to a high standard, stylishly decorated and fully fitted with everything one could need. The modern kitchen with a gas hob was much appreciated for making breakfast and the odd cup of tea . The bathroom also good with a power shower and plentiful supply of... More

This apartment was the best, most fully equipped place in Italy. We stayed in 8 places total. This wins the prize. The location: Fantastic. Trastevere has it all... walking is not hilly. Great places to eat everywhere. Walking distance to the Forum, Colosseum, etc. The nearby tram to go to the Pantheon. Facilities: Coldest air conditioning in all Italy. LOTS... More

Fantastic apartment in the trendy Trastevere area. Apartment is modern spacious and well appointed. There are great bars and restaurants on your doorstop (try The Fish Market) and all the main Rome attractions are within walking distance. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Would use again if in Rome for sure!

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
