Had a one night stay in Rome and had never stayed in the Vatican City area, so opted for Residenza Paolo VI. Lovely little hotel directly across the street from St Peter's Square - as you walk out the front door - you see into the square - it is literally across the street. The staff is pleasant and helpful,... More

I use Tripadvisor routinely for travel and this is the first time I feel mislead. The hotel, really more of an apartment complex, across from the Vatican, is ideally located for those who want to spend time there. However, the basic rooms, where we stayed, are ABSOLUTELY TINY, smaller than a dorm room. It's a little disappointing given the price.... More

We spent five nights in this beautiful hotel. The staff were friendly, attentive and went above and beyond. They made us feel so welcome and comfortable on our first visit to Rome. The hotel is located to the side of St Peter's square and the terrace in the bar has a beautiful view of the basilica. We were able to... More

The hotel is perfect!!! Right next to the Vatican, with the view of St Peters on the balcony, what more could you wish for. Staff, cleaniness, location, all perfect. Standard room was cosy with alovely bathroom, complimentary toiletries, tv, fridge full of goodies if you want to purchase something.Breakfast is lovely and we really enjoyed it, bacon, scrambled eggs if... We stayed 7 nights at this lovely hotel. The Staff were faultless, very friendly, courteous & spoke English well. The location was ' location, location, location '. You could not ask for a better one. St.Peters square, Vatican City. Say no more. Could have spent the rest of my life there. Terrace, cocktails & the view. Would love to return... More

We spent 2 nights here following a cruise and it was perfect for us. The location is, of course, amazing, and not just for the Vatican. We easily walked over to the old city across the river to enjoy a lunch and see the sights. The staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is nice and has something for every... More

We enjoyed our stay in this quaint hotel. It is clean and convenient with a very friendly staff. Rooms are simple but have everything you need. Breakfast (included) is great. You walk out the front door and you are at St Peter's Square. Beds are kind of hard, which I may consider if I were staying longer. The restaurant offers... More

This is a small hotel, only 29 rooms which is nice. My daughter and I stayed there for two nights before going on a Mediterrean cruise. The room was kind of basic with two twin beds, a small tv with only Italian channels, and a small but adequate shower. It is located directly across the street from Vatican city and... More

You cannot beat this location, it was perfect for us and we walked everywhere, the highlight for me was sitting on the balcony and overlooking St Peters, very special! The rooms are small so do not book the smallest but next one up with queen size bed is fine for a short stay. Staff are friendly and helpful and breakfasts... More

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighborhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighborhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighborhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
