We stayed here 23rd January for 3 nights. It was absolute Heaven and I mean no disrespect when I say that. The location was fabulous - overlooking St Peter's Basilica. The staff were courteous and very very helpful. The food was great - breakfast was served in a very tastefully decorated dining room. In the evening we went up to... More

This was my second experience staying at this hotel with the last time being in 2000. I was impressed then and even more impressed now. The staff is extremely helpful, the rooms are immaculately (no pun intended) clean, the breakfast is a typical European but more than enough to eat (but scrambled eggs were cold....get over it!) and the WIFI... A gem of a hotel, along with a gem of a staff. My room and bathroom were a nice size and spotless. I had a beautful view of the dome of St. Peter's. The location is incredible and very peaceful. A short walk across Ponte Sant'Angelo and historical Rome is there to explore. The highlight of the hotel is the... More

Located inside Vatican City across the street from St Peter's Square. Our room looked out over an interior court yard which is shared with an adjoining Augustinian monastery. Very quiet location and felt very safe walking in the area after dark. The restaurant provides an outstanding view. The breakfasts (which were included) more then adequate with pastries and hot and... More

My spouse's second stay here. Clean, comfortable and accommodating. Literally-At the doorsteps of St. Peter's. The hotel arranged an English speaking tour guide (Susannah PhD) as well as a driver for an amazing 3 hour tour of Rome. Felt exceptionally safe and secure during our 3 night stay.

This hotel is in a location that seems almost impossible to explain. The view from the restaurant patio... we were staring at the Pope during Sunday Angelus with a direct view. Admiring Michaelangelo's dome at night all illuminated is breathtaking. Note: this is a religious hotel. No- they don't make you pray or go to Church... but they do hand... More

If you want to be close, very close, to St. Peter's, this is the Hotel. Security is excellent. Rooms are small but certainly adequate. The Breakfasts are very good and the ladies at the desk are wonderful. You can sit on the terrace and enjoy the view over Bernini's statues atop his Colonnade and see Michael Angelo's Dome. You hear... More

We were looking for something close to the Vatican for our one night in Rome so we could go see the Sistene Chapel. WOW did we get close! Just across the street from St Peter's Square! The room is small but has a king size bed and is just fine for sleeping. The crown jewel is the small but beautiful... More

My husband and I stayed here in late September 2015. From the train station to the hotel, it was about $30 if i remember correctly. When they say the hotel is close to the Vatican, they mean literally 20 steps into St. Peters Square. The hotel is pretty basic, but the staff are super friendly! One thing i did appreciate... More

Hotel is across the street from St Peter's Square. My room is small, bathroom is small too, bed is good, typical European bathroom, they can do away with the bidet for more space, can't see the Basilica from my room, the terrace is the best place to be after your day of walking around nice buffet breakfast, the bacons need... Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighborhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighborhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighborhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
