My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at San Francesco. The rooms were spacious (for Europe) and clean. The breakfast has a wonderful selection of items - sure to find something that you like. Lovely view from the rooftop terrace. Only downside was the unenthusiastic staff - they were polite but not particularly helpful. I would definitely stay here... more

We stayed here at the end of trip and were ready for some relaxation. And since our room overlooked the serene convent next door, we definitely got it. The hotel was an easy walk to the tram and a moderate walk to the restaurant and bar hot spots of the neighborhood. Our room was kind of small but it was... more

The location (Trastevere) is so much less touristy than other areas of Rome. The hotel is very nice with a gorgeous rooftop bar. But best of all the staff was the most helpful and thoughtful I've ever encountered in Rome. There was a problem with the air conditioning vent in our room the first night, and the next morning they... more

The Hotel San Francesco in the Trastevere neighborhoods of old Rome is the absolute perfect location from which to explore this remarkably walkable city. The hotel is a hidden jem of hospitality with a jewel of a staff who helped us from our first contact until we left. They promptly answered my many emails and helped make sure our first... more

I say good base for a few nights because if you're in Rome for just a short time, chances are that, like us, you'll be out and about for most of the day, eating out in the evening and using the hotel as a comfortable start and finish to your day. You'll also want to be in a good location... more

A lovely small hotel in Trastevere within walking distance of all of Rome's attractions with fabulous service, delicious breakfasts, and a pretty rooftop garden to catch the evening's breezes. more

We stayed at Hostel San Francesco and I was really impressed with the hotel. Cheap, modern (more like a boutique hotel), very quiet, in the center of Trastevere, but very easy to move around. You can take the tram to the center of Rome or take the bus in the direction of 'piramide'. The roof terrace is great, as well!... more

I was quite surprised to read the bad review. We had an excellent stay. The room was certainly adequate. There were three of us in one room so we had a rollaway. We still had room to maneuver and get to our suitcases. I found the bathroom a very nice size especially for Europe. We stayed 2 nights and our... more

First off the neighborhood this place is in is awful. Downright scary. All the buildings are covered in graffitti and there's homeless people everywhere. The neighborhood is absolutely filthy. The front desk clerk was extrememly rude. The pictures on their website were very misleading. The room was VERY small and there was mold everywhere in the shower. The views from... more
