This place, while not a 5 star hotel, is perfect! Staff were extremely friendly, it was safe, quiet, and the perfect starting off point to our Roman holiday! We had a number of friends coming and going to meet us there for a few days and they were accommodating and welcoming. We felt secure there and were able to get... More

My husband and I stayed here for about 5 nights during our first visit to Rome. We booked a basic double room online but was given a twin (2 single beds). The staff kindly immediately rectified it by pushing them together and remaking the beds with a double sheet, but it turned out to be quite uncomfortable as the beds... More

Really good location, a few minuets walk from metro and bus station. Walking distance from romes sites. Plenty of shops/markets & eateries close by. Very clean hostel with friendly helpful staff. Safe for any solo traveler.

Nice hotel and hostel at a reasonable price. Only one small entrance so it was secure. We stayed in a private room and liked it. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean. Family type atmosphere. Had a small lounge area with access to around 4-5 computers with free internet access. Good value for the money in an expensive... More

I stayed at this hostel/hotel in may of 2014, and really enjoyed the experience. The facilities were very clean and comfortable and the services provided by the staff made making reservations and getting directions very easy. It is located very close to the termini train station and also very close to a subway station to easily access the whole city.... More

We stayed at Papa Germano for three nights while on a trip to Rome. For our first hostel experience we sure left we lots of funny stories. The room was nice but extremely hot. Although the weather wasn't the hotels fault we thought it was silly you would have to pay extra for air conditioning. We met some great people... More

We stayed at Papa Germano's for 6 nights while doing a survey of archeological sites in and around Rome in September, 2014. The location is superb for our needs: 5 minutes from the Termini and the Metro A & B station. Room prices are very good for both rooms with shared bath and with en suite bath, especially for a... Great location for train station, hotel was very clean and the staff were great, very friendly and helpful. Bed was comfy and we had clean towels every day. Only down side is the noise from outside but it is in the city centre so what else would you expect and anyway we were so tired from all the sight seeing... More

The hostel/hotel is only 5 Minutes from Termini Station! Nothing ordinary at very very fair conditions! All you need in Rom is a bed, safe room and clean bath! All was perfect! You have to walk like 20-25 Minutes to Pantheon etc. but anyhow... How better to discover Rome by strolling through the city to the next side! Good staff... More

we booked a basic double but got a triple, so no big bed, but 3 seperate one. That wasn't a problem, just a bit weird. The shared bathrooms were clean and the staff at the reception was nice and helpful. The only drawback, which was a big one, were the thin walls. Some guests got up around 7 am and... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
