I don't have any complaints about this hostel. I only stayed one night, but I enjoyed it. They have good security and the bathroom was kept clean. I would recommend this place for any thrifty traveler!

I stayed at Papa Germano for only one night. It is located very close to Roma Termini station, about a 5 min walk or less. The zone around the station isn't the prettiest one. But I didn't feel unsafe even walking it at night. The hotel had a few problems: The staff was very accomodating and helpful, and the room... More

I returned after five years, this time with my mother, and we were welcomed like old friends at this city hotel. Papa Germano was very hospitable, and surprised us with the gift of a bottle of Chianti. Our quiet, clean room was calm and cool against the Roman heat. The room was well equipped with a safe, hairdryer, fridge, TV... More

I was very disappointed about this place, especially because I came back to Rome and the previous year I loved it.. But then I stayed in a hostel outside of Rome, which was amazing. The hostel is just an old budget hotel. There is nothing wrong with that, like me, when you look for cleanliness this is really a nice... More

We stayed in one of the two-person rooms with an private bathroom for our visit to Rome, and were very happy with the accommodations (It was really more like a simple hotel than a hostel). The room was simple and clean, and even had a mini-fridge! It was very quiet at night - no noise from the street, and the... More

It's actually a 2 star hotel that has a few rooms with combined beds. It's very close to Termini, the main hub of Rome. The rooms are neat and well maintained. The staff are professional, but they aren't available 24 hours like a regular hostel. Although it was safe, it would have helped to have a locker facility. No common... More

Pretty pleased with this place there were just 3 bed in a dorm room and it's got a lavatory. Towel rent was just €1, walking distance to Central Station and if one feels like it, walking to the Colosseum is highly possible. They can also keep your luggage after check out without extra cost. The lady who checked me in... More

Nice rooms, though it's not a hostel. Don't come here expecting social activity or to meet other travelers. The rooms were clean and the showers were great though, and the bed was great too. The staff are friendly and helpful and give you a map, which is definitely required.

Our stay here for three nights was perfect. We booked a private double with an ensuite - recently renovated so it's lovely in the room itself! Was clean upon arrival and was also cleaned each day, even with fresh towels which was a massive bonus. Aircon in the room too which worked perfectly. Staff were lovely and very accommodating, keen... More

The hostel was clean and the staff were very friendly. The rooms were small but we weren't in them except for sleeping so it wasn't a big deal. There are some extra charges that you should be aware of. Breakfast cost 5 euros each morning and you have to make sure you tell them the night before. Air Conditioning costs... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
