We stayed here for 3 nights, everybody was so friendly and kind. The room was not a luxury one but was clean and ok, it is an old building and has a good, unique italian feeling :) The hotel is next to the Colosseum, and almost every attractions can reach by walk. I recommend this hotel :)

We recently had several stays of a few nights each during September at Hotel Grifo. From the first meeting it was obvious the staff are excellent. Recommendations for local restaurants and where the best sights will be seen was the right advise in every instance. The location is excellent, just remember this is an old hotel and most rooms are... More

Dear Guest, we are very glad that your stay at our hotel was good and that our staff was helpful to you. Despite this, we do not understand why you assigned us not the maximum score. We are very sorry for this and invite you to come back again at our hotel! Furthermore, we remind to everybody that we renewed... More

Lovely staff, clean room, comfy bed. Perfect location for us, 5 mins walk from colliseum/forum etc. Nice bars and restaurants around. Room and bathroom quite small but perfectly adequate. Breakfast menu/selection process is far more complicated than neccesary but quite amusing as well.

Dear Jamie, thank you for your feedback. As you noted, our hotel is located in one of the ancient part of Rome, not far from the main sights. Our rooms may seem small but they are the standard size for this part of Rome. We are glad to tell you that we renewed our breakfast deciding to put quality over... More

My wife and I stayed here for four nights in October 2014 at the start of a two week vacation in Italy. Long story short - the hotel was solid, the people were friendly and helpful, and I can't imagine a better location from which to explore Rome. Room: We booked a room in the annex building that is located... More

Hotel located in 10 min walk to Colliseum and Roman Forum. We were given the room above the 4th floor (you have to use the spiral staircase after exiting the elevator). The door in the bathroom had a hole instead of the lock. The floor was filled with ants. After us making the complain, we were moved to other room... More

Stayed here for one night Oct. 12 2014 to the 13th. We were greeted by Angelo who could not have been more helpful. It was our first time in Rome and he pointed out what restaurants, wine bars, ATM's, and sights to see. It is located 5 minutes walking distance from the Colosseum and other sights. Breakfast was included, nothing... More

Hotel Grifo is in a great location - authentic neighborhood with lots of good restaurants, and within walking distance to all the major sights. It was also impressively quiet on the top floor. We were warmly welcomed by Luigi, who gave us excellent restaurant recommendations. The included breakfast was a great perk. We enjoyed the having the terrace on the... More

Great ending to our month long European trip. You cannot beat the location!!! Only a 10 - 15 minute walk from the train station. 10 minute walk to the Colosseum!!! The hotel itself was very nice, it was old but very clean. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Down the road from hotel Grifo is without doubt the best... More

Very central in the oldest part of Rome. Within easy walking distance of the main sites. Lots of great Restaurants close by. Our room on the third floor was very comfortable and clean. They warn you that it is a very old building so may not have all facitlites. We were made very welcome by the family and other staff.... More

Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
