We stayed at San Anselmo to celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary. The reason I say that first off is if we didn't find the hill to the hotel overly daunting then I am sure most able bodied folk won't either, so I hope it doesn't put people off. We stayed 6 days and got home yesterday. I wanted to post... More

This hotel was truly the highlight of our experience in Rome! Totally romantic room and a fantastic bar/lobby great for hanging out late night to have a few drinks. The hotel is at the top of a hill and a walk from the "action" of Rome, but this provided a welcome respite for hectic hustle and bustle of the city.... More

I was really really excited about the Hotel San Anselmo when we booked it after seeing all of the rave reviews here, and I do understand why people love it so much. It's a beautiful space with friendly staff and a really laid-back though classy atmosphere and a nice breakfast. That being said, it was our first time in Rome... More

This is a stunning hotel. We stayed there for 4 days as part of our honeymoon. It was great. Here's why we liked it: - Free champers and nuts on arrival (we told them it was our honeymoon). Much apreciated after train journey from Sperlonga. - Gorgeous little Baci chocolates on our pillows every night. They are the nicest chocs... More

We stayed here for 4 nights last week and had a very pleasant stay. It is situated in a peaceful tree-lined square on the Aventine Hill away from the traffic noise and bustle and is an oasis of calm to relax in after a day's sightseeing. The staff were friendly and welcoming especially when we arrived at 8am direct from... More

Stayed here for 4 nights during our Italian Honeymoon! We didn't get off to a great start - like a previous writer the taxi from the train station tried to rip us off, by switching our 50 note for a 10 and claiming we had not paid enough! Be careful - you have been warned! When leaving we booked a... More

This is the hotel that has prompted me to write my first ever review for Trip Advisor as a thank you for the reviews by the countless other people I read when wading through the choice of hotels in Rome for a surprise trip for our first wedding anniversary ! I could write a book on how great this hotel... More

We used Trip Advisor to help our decision, as I really wanted to stay in a romantic hotel that had the instant Italian feel; this hotel delivered in spades! We have no complaints at all, the room we stayed in (811) The Renaissance Room had a lovely view over the back garden, a most comfortable bed and a welcome Jacuzzi... More

What a wonderful hotel. We stayed for a short break in July and couldn’t have been more overjoyed with our choice. When I booked, I pre-ordered a cab to collect us from the airport. Our driver, although he didn’t speak English was charming and we managed to communicate in broken French. He took us directly to the hotel for a... More

An absolutely wonderfull hotel. The huge breakfast buffet of a morning is gorgeous and to sit under the orange trees in the crisp morning sunshine is amazing. The room was lavishly furnished and kept regularly cleaned by the lovely maids. The one thing that ruins the hotel slightly is the rather aloof / snobby receptionist that works there, though he... Staying in Aventine

Neighborhood Profile
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighborhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
