We had 2 rooms book in this lovely hotel. We truly enjoyed our stay and would stay there again if we were back to Rome. Hotel reminded me a lot of Grand Budapest Hotel. Yes, the one from the movie. Service was great. Welcome drink on arrival is a very nice touch as well. Rooms were clean, shower was amazing,... More

We stayed here for four nights during our honeymoon trip to Italia. The hotel is situated about a 15 minute drive from the centre of rome; a 20-25 minute walk to the colosseum and a 5 minute walk to the gardens bought by the Maltese (unaccessible). We walked every night around the colosseum, the Roman Fort and the Jewish Quarter... More

Never have we come across such rude, contradictory and quite frankly obnoxious staff as at San Anselmo this year. My Husband and I stayed 5 years ago on our honeymoon and it was a great experience. Prior to booking the hotel then, the staff at the time could not do enough to help us with queries. They emailed photos, descriptions... More

Dear sir, Thank you for your comment. We are glad you stayed with us5 years ago for your honeymoon and since then, nothing has changed. The staff and the management has been the same. The only thing changes are room availability and prices which get high as demand increases. We would love to have you again in our hotel but,... More

My Wife and I originally stayed at this hotel 5 years ago. It was amazing, all you could wish for in a honeymoon. Whatever has happened between now and then I dread to think. We have been trying to enquire about a room for July ( a quiet time in Rome) by email and phone. We had specifically asked for... More

Dear guest, I'm glad you had a wonderful time with us for your honeymoon and we thank you for your preference. We would love to have you again in our hotel but, I'm afraid, you must be willing to pay for the price we are offering. Prices are dynamic in the hotel business and they increase when demand is high.... More

We had a beautiful and romantic room (nr. 834 / Mille e Una Notta) with a nice canopy bed and relaxing freestanding bath tub, covered by a starry sky lighting in the ceiling! Extensive breakfast gives variety every morning. Very quiet and peaceful location of the hotel in a green and residential environment. Room and bathroom is cleaned everyday, with... More

Chose this hotel at short notice and based on price and the look of the gallery. We have been greatly impressed by the atmosphere, quality of service, and overall feel of the place. Not right in the centre of things but an easy walk to central attractions. Situated in a lovely area which feels very safe and a really chilled... More

We shot down to Rome for a last minute break with our children. The only hotel we would consider in Rome is Hotel Pio or it's sister hotel the San Anselmo. We love the decor, the beautiful garden for breakfast (after a long, peaceful sleep in a huge bed) and the quiet and attentive service. It's been over 20 years... More

Even though I loved the look of this hotel, at first I was slightly hesitant to book due to the fact that it is slightly further out from the city centre. I'm so glad we chose Hotel San Anselmo. Staying in Aventine

Neighborhood Profile
Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighborhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
