My first trip to Italy in September '99, we spent 3 nights at the Gerber Hotel. What a charming place! It was in close proximity to sites & the staff was extremely friendly & assisted us in booking our tours to our selected sites. The hotel's spacious rooms were clean/comfortable with great air conditioning. The lift was small, but I... More

Let's get the bad stuff out of the way. There isn't much. - When we got there, our rooms were not ready (no problem with that - we were very early). There was no place to store them because others had already stored their stuff behind the available counter. Thus, we left our stuff there all day while we were... More

Located in the Vatican area it is within walking distance of the area's great attractions. Just a corner away from Metro stop Lepanzo on the A/B line means quick and easy to/from Roma. In fact a good walker can easily cross the river and get to the Colleseo, Pantheon. Piazza Navone and all the Rome highlights and back to the... More

Quiet location (but with everything you need- restaurants, supermarket, pharmacy, clothing shops) near the Vatican and 3-5 minute walking to Levanto metro station. Small renewed hotel with lift, very good breakfast, nice staff, clean room. Free wifi worked perfectly! Less positive aspects: about seven steps from the reception to the lift; noisy air conditioning directed to the bed. Transfer to... More

After deciding to stay somewhere outside the touristy spots in Rome, Prati was recommended to us by a family member... And what a lovely location for a first visit to Rome. Hotel Gerber was selected after a random search through trip advisor and upon arrival I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms have all been refurbished and were immaculately clean! The... More

Prati (the area north of the Vatican west of the Tiber) is a very good place to base a visit to Rome and we found Hotel Gerber via TA and was absolutely super-satisfied with our stay. Close to main attractions in western Rome and only a block away from the Metro makes it a perfect base to explore Rome. The... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Gerber. We were there over Easter, and it is a perfect location for visiting the Vatican. It is also just a quick block and some from the subway - a wonderful plus. We walked to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon. It's an easy subway ride to the Ancient Rome area... More

Hotel Gerber was our "home" for five days on our first trip to Rome. The staff was great in helping us find our way around the city. The room and hotel facilities were excellent. Travelers who appreciate a cozy, home-like hotel (as opposed to a shiny, hi-tech accommodation) will surely like Hotel Gerber. The hotel is a few walkable blocks... More

This was a welcome, quiet hotel, not far from the Vatican. The staff allowed us to check in early, which is always a good sign of accommodation. Our room was a good size, the bed was large and comfortable. Friendly staff, good value, location and neighborhood. We would certainly return.

The Gerber is a very well run family owned hotel. Yes the rooms and bathrooms are quite small - but when in Rome who wants to be in a room? Bathroom was new and very clean, and the bed was large and comfortable. Best of all, the rooms were very quiet. Breakfast was totally adequate - not exciting - but... More

Staying in Prati

Neighborhood Profile
Just steps away from the chaos of the center, Prati is the closest Rome gets to calm. Meticulously planned in a neat grid, quite unlike neighboring Borgo, Prati is a local favorite for its aesthetic organization and wide streets lined with a range of boutiques for every shopping fantasy. Nonnis pushing baby carriages and gossiping teens own every inch of the sidewalk, but that’s only during business hours. Once the sun sets, quirky sidestreet bars celebrate aperitivo hour, those evening cocktails that help wash away the tensions of Roman life.
