We stayed at the Carmel for 11 days in the Trastevere part of Rome for the fourth time. We made sure that we reserved again Room #5, which is large and opens to the terrace. The bathroom was small but adequate, and this time there was plenty of hot water. The noise from the Goffredo Mameli St. appeared to have... More

We spent three days in this wonderful hotel. the location is perfect, very close to the historical center and very well connected to reach all points of interest in the city. The hotel is lovely and romantic in the heart of Rome, the rooms are clean and nice and the staff was very kind with us. They treated us very... More

Room was clean, big enough for 3 people, clean bathroom. Not much daylight because of the blends, but that didn't matter. After 20h there's nobody at the reception anymore, but an employeer is living in one of the rooms. So at anytime someone is available. The breakfast was served by a friendly man, but is not wurth taling about. Very... More

We stayed in this hotel for three nights in early May. On the positive side, the location is good being close to the main Trastevere area and close to public transport. The room was not too small and the bed comfortable. The day staff are friendly and helpful. There is a pleasant rooftop terrace. The main problem we had was... More

Stayed there for three nights loved the location minutes from Trastevre street with all the night life around it. Staff was always friendly and helpful and recommended nice places to visit and relax. Value for money was good and I will recommend to all people that want to enjoy Rome the Italian way :)

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights in this hotel. The location is the only good thing about this hotel. The room was terrible, small and dirty. We couldn't open the window because there so much noise at the street. The bathroom was too small and the shower box had a leak lots of water leaking from the shower... More

Loving Trastevere I'm glad I stayed in this hotel. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. I was even able to print out some papers. If I ever find myself in Rome again I would definitely come back here. However, breakfast could be better.

Just spent one night in Rome, originally we were planning a 3 night stay but we had a last min change and had to cancel the remaining 2 nights, we expected to have to pay for one of the two nights we cancelled as stated in their cancellation policy and the staff member behind the desk indicated that was unfortunately... We wanted to stay in Trastevere because we were visiting my niece who was staying there to study for the summer. Hotels in the area are not cheap. This was the lowest price I could find so I was worried about the quality. This turned out to be a pretty good value to price match so I would say that... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
