Stayed there for three nights loved the location minutes from Trastevre street with all the night life around it. Staff was always friendly and helpful and recommended nice places to visit and relax. Value for money was good and I will recommend to all people that want to enjoy Rome the Italian way :)

My husband and I stayed for 4 nights in this hotel. The location is the only good thing about this hotel. The room was terrible, small and dirty. We couldn't open the window because there so much noise at the street. The bathroom was too small and the shower box had a leak lots of water leaking from the shower... More

Loving Trastevere I'm glad I stayed in this hotel. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. I was even able to print out some papers. If I ever find myself in Rome again I would definitely come back here. However, breakfast could be better.

Just spent one night in Rome, originally we were planning a 3 night stay but we had a last min change and had to cancel the remaining 2 nights, we expected to have to pay for one of the two nights we cancelled as stated in their cancellation policy and the staff member behind the desk indicated that was unfortunately... We wanted to stay in Trastevere because we were visiting my niece who was staying there to study for the summer. Hotels in the area are not cheap. This was the lowest price I could find so I was worried about the quality. This turned out to be a pretty good value to price match so I would say that... More

We stayed at the Carmel in February 2014 and found it wonderful. The staff is helpful and quickly solved a few problems that came up. The room was clean and also warm--we were worried that it might not be in February (although the breakfast room is a bit chilly). In addition to a great location, walking distance from most sites,... A small but lovely hotel where all of the staff are very very helpful. Close to, all transport links and only a 5-minute walk from one of the tour bus drop of points. Located in the Travestere part of Rome which is full of quirky shops and restaurants and is within easy reach (even walking) of many of the best... More

My wife, son (19) and daughter (10) stayed at this hotel at the back end of a cruise. Our intent was to delve into the rest of the tourist areas to the west that we did not do at the first stay prior to cruise. This hotel is nicely situated for that. Public transportation is very easy if you don't... More

The hotel is located in the center of the city in near many historical sites, good restaurants, pubs and museum. Near the hotel there are bus stops to every destination. Wonderful service, clean and comfortable rooms. I hope to come back there very soon.

Hi, I came back after I had a good experience in the Carmel Hotel and I found out they really improved in many things! The breakfast is AMAZING! Home made cakes, abundant...I couldn't expect anything better! The staff was as usual very nice and the rooms clean...I like this hotel...Small, nice, I feel I live the real experience of travelling... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
