We needed a place to stay for one night in Rome after spending three nights at the River Palace then going to the Amalfi Coast and Capri. This place is clean and convenient. This place is small and creepy. My beloved took one look and suggested we go the airport and sleep in the lounge waiting for our plane the... more

This is a reasonably pleasant place. However, although advertised as kosher, for Orthodox Jews, there is no sense in which it is "kosher" except that one can walk to the main synagogue. There is no eruv in Rome, but there is no one to let you in at night (unless you break Shabbat by ringing the buzzer!) so you need... more

My wife, I, and our five-year-old son have been staying at the Hotel Carmel for years. My wife and I are academics who do research in Rome. I have been doing work in Rome since 1983. So we have a reasonably good idea of options in the city. The location is great; the people who run the hotel are competent,... more

We planned to stay at this hotel for four nights...and found after the first night there was no hot water and no one to complain to (other than the algerian cleaning staff that spoke no english or italian). We left after one night and were charged for the full four night stay. We are now in the long process of... more

Hotel Carmel was great for what we needed, i.e. a cheap but comfortable and clean place to rest our heads. Our double room was adequate size, as was the bathroom (shower, basin, toilet) which we shared with one other twin room. It's not a five star luxury affair but you won't spend much time in the Hotel as there's so... more

This is a great location bed and breakfast for a good price. It offers a kosher breakfast, however it was nothing special, so we were better off going to a bakery and buying our own breakfast. The staff was very friendly, the rooms and bathroom were clean but small. The only unconvinience was that the bed was very very unconfortable-... more

I'm a solo traveller who stayed at the Carmel in Sept. 2005. The single room was tiny and next to the stairwell so I heard clanking at odd hours. I was right next to the roof garden which had very little in the way of "garden' but did have various items of stained furniture and some plastic chairs and a... more

We booked this hotel fairly late and paid 110 Euros/night for what they called a "large"room. Whilst the room was not huge, it was more than adequate and was clean. In addition to expected furnishings the room contained a television, safe, refrigerator, air conditioning and double glazing. There was also a private bathroom with excellent shower. The hotel does not... more
