Probably the best location to stay around the Vatican. The rooms were large with tall ceilings and the bathroom was very large compared to other European facilities! The breakfast buffet had everything (and more) that my family of 3 wanted, and the front desk staff were helpful and always ready to give a helpful hint on touring the area. The... More

The hotel Santa Anna in Rome is a small family run hotel that is in a great part of Rome to access the Vatican. My room was a great size with a little courtyard out back. My friends stayed in a room at the top of the hotel and this too was comfortable and roomy. The staff at the front... More

I stayed here on my own for one night only but found a very compact, comfortable room with a surprisingly good decor. Every space was used well with a reasonably large shower - which I need as I'm a very large person and have had some difficult times entering small shower stalls/enclosures in Europe. I found the concierge helpful with... More

I stayed three nights in the high season and walked easily throughout Rome from this location. Only one block from Vatican City with so many pleasant restaurants on my same block. The staff were all so kind and friendly, and the breakfast pleasant. The room was very large with a lavish bath. I very much liked my stay at the... More

we stayed here for three nights in July. I can't rave about this hotel enough. the location was absolutely perfect. three minute stroll to St. Peter's Basilica (recommend going about 6pm - no crowds) and 10 mins from the Vatican (recommend pre-booking the 3pm slot - no queuing even in school holidays). the street this hotel is on has some... We stayed at the Hotel Sant Anna for 2 nights during July so we could visit Vatican City before going to Greece. Since we enjoyed our stay so much we re-booked it for another 2 nights on our way back through Rome. It is about a 10-15 min walk to the Metro so quite easy to get to other sightseeing... More

I stayed two nights in this hotel after another hotel around the corner messed up my booking. They took me in, gave me the same price per night as the other hotel (although I´m sure the hotel room I got was much more expensive). The room was beautiful, great breakfast and excellent service. I highly recommend this hotel.

My wife and I spent 4 nights here in early July. This was our first trip to Italy and Hotel S. Anna helped make it special. Rooms are modern, breakfast was delicious, staff very helpful, and very close to Vatican. Only drawback is that the rooms are pretty small, but we didn't spend much time in our room.

This is one of the finest hotels in which I have ever stayed. The staff are really friendly, the rooms are beautiful, breakfast is fantastic, and you can't beat the location-- only 2 blocks from the Vatican. For a 3-star hotel in central Rome, this is a real value. We look forward to our return to Rome, and will definitely... More

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighborhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighborhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighborhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
