This hotel was in a great location--only a short walk from St. Peter's. The street outside the hotel had numerous restaurants and shopping. The breakfast each day was wonderful The staff was friendly and very helpful. It was a very nice boutique hotel.

We stayed in this hotel for a 5 night break at the beginning of November and couldn't have been happier with our choice. It is located very close to Vatican City, but without all the hustle and bustle. Our room was smallish but very clean and very adequate for our needs. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the breakfast... More

Awesome location, very clean. We stayed in room 10. Staff was on point and we were there in October so the room rate was off season and well worth it. 2 minute walk to St.Peters Sq. 15 minute walk to Vatican museums. Morning breakfast of eggs, fruit, pastries, hams, etc. included in room rate. WiFi and cool little courtyard sitting... More

We arrived at this hotel on Oct. 8th and left the morning of Oct 11th. It was a clean hotel, small room (typical of older Italian hotels). The bathroom had been renovated and was nice and clean. We had a room with queen/king bed and a small balcony. The A/C was not the greatest and it was hot while we... More

For me the hotel was overpriced. Breakfast was ok but no better than other hotels I've eaten in abroad. Room was fine but looked a bit tired. Staff on reception were polite but not really friendly. All in all would not return.

Great Vatican location. It is very near St Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museum. A small boutique hotel, a bit dated but the room and bathroom are good sized, free wi-fi although the signal is not so good in the rooms. The staff are great and very friendly. Free breakfast buffet.

Location was perfect (we went everywhere on foot! Just around the corner of Vatican!), breakfast was great and filling (perfect for a whole day of sightseeing). All in all, a hotel we will be glad to come back to in the future.

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights after walking the Via Francigena. It is a nice hotel, the room was clean, spacious and had all the facilities we needed. The staff were friendly and very helpful. It's in a great location just a few minutes from the Vatican. Breakfasts were good. WiFi in the room.

Rome was our first stop in Italy, so we were feeling pretty jet lagged, and we slept like logs both nights at Hotel S. Anna. The room was very dark and very quiet. The staff was so friendly and everybody spoke English. The location was amazing, loved the street we were on. There was a great wine bar, (enoteca) called... More

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighborhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighborhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighborhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
