Loved the location of this hotel on wonderful Borgo Pio - with great restaurants - and just steps from St Anna gate into Vatican City and St Peters Square. The hotel has really friendly staff and newly renovated bathrooms. The elevator is small but the hotel only reaches to the 3rd floor - so the steps are not bad. Beds... More

This place was wonderful. It was situated in Vatican City so we were within walking distance to all of that. Borgo Pio is also a wonderful street with a beautiful pastry shop, fritturia (fry shop), pizza place, pannini take out place, many fine restaurants, gelato and gift shops. It does not lack for much! It's also within walking distance to... More

Good location, friendly staff, cosy atmosphere, good breakfast: The Vatican area is a perfect location to explore Rome. My husband and I enjoyed our stay in Hotel Sant Anna and will certainly come back!

This hotel is right around the corner from St. Peter's Square, is surrounded by good restaurants, small markets and neat little streets. The hotel staff were very nice and the room was nice, large and modern. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Probably the best location to stay around the Vatican. The rooms were large with tall ceilings and the bathroom was very large compared to other European facilities! The breakfast buffet had everything (and more) that my family of 3 wanted, and the front desk staff were helpful and always ready to give a helpful hint on touring the area. The... More

The hotel Santa Anna in Rome is a small family run hotel that is in a great part of Rome to access the Vatican. My room was a great size with a little courtyard out back. My friends stayed in a room at the top of the hotel and this too was comfortable and roomy. The staff at the front... More

I stayed here on my own for one night only but found a very compact, comfortable room with a surprisingly good decor. Every space was used well with a reasonably large shower - which I need as I'm a very large person and have had some difficult times entering small shower stalls/enclosures in Europe. I found the concierge helpful with... More

I stayed three nights in the high season and walked easily throughout Rome from this location. Only one block from Vatican City with so many pleasant restaurants on my same block. The staff were all so kind and friendly, and the breakfast pleasant. The room was very large with a lavish bath. I very much liked my stay at the... More

we stayed here for three nights in July. I can't rave about this hotel enough. the location was absolutely perfect. three minute stroll to St. Peter's Basilica (recommend going about 6pm - no crowds) and 10 mins from the Vatican (recommend pre-booking the 3pm slot - no queuing even in school holidays). the street this hotel is on has some... Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighborhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighborhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighborhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
