We chose the Smeraldo for its location. It was a trade off between a newer, American style hotel (typically more expensive in town, less so if you don't mind being 20 minutes by car outside of town), or an older European style hotel, well located, reasonably priced. Although the accommodations were on the small side, they were more than adequate.... More

2 rooms with a bath in the middle, was perfect for my 2 daughters and I. Great location, right by some great restaurants, Gelato and of course the Pantheon. half a block away is "Anna's" restaurant, fantastic food, service and price. We had dinner there 3 nights.

Just got back from Rome staying at the Smelrado and couldn't fault it . They have re-furbished most of the rooms and have done an excellent job. The furnishings, bathrooms and bedding are of a high standard. The staff are very helpful and the hotel is in an excellent location. Will definitely return.

Stayed here during a City Break to Rome. For it's purposes the location of the hotel was excellent - a short stroll to the Campo Di Fiore and many restaurants and bars nearby. We were first put in a very nice and modern room on the top floor of the hotel (directly under the lovely roof terrace), but we found... More

Stayed for 3 nights in March. Great kixation bear Piazza Navona, Vatican and Pantheon. We stayed in Rm 302 but not in the main building and whether it was late night revellers till 2am or the bakery opening at 4am, it was very very noisy. The room was clean and typically Rome - not massive but it was clean with... More

lovely clean hotel. nice helpful staff, great location. close to all attractions. no bar in hotel, but nice clean roof garden where we took drinks and food. fantastic pizza / cake shop at side of hotel. (must try) they seem to do walking trips and include this bakery on their tours.

Stayed for a three night break in March. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. Hotel is walking distance from The Vatican, Colosseum and Parthenon. Great restaurants and bars on the doorstep but still retains a quiet atmosphere. Great value. Lovely breakfasts.

While it's not the fanciest, nor posh or modern, this hotel gets high praise from me for the caring staff. My son was pickpocketted the first night we arrived and the night desk clerk was extremely helpful trying to communicate with the polizia. We never got our stuff back but this guy really tried and for that I will be... More

Stayed 5 nights in Sept 2014. . We had arranged for a driver to pick us up at the airport so there was no issues finding the place. No issues with check in. This is a great location. Close to a forno (bakery), across the way from a coffee shop/bar, restaurant, gelateria and 5 min walk to Campo di Fiori,... More

I thought that I had reviewed this hotel on our return , but better late than never. We stayed at this hotel in September 2013 before a cruise and were delighted with its location. Perfect being within walking distance to many of the Piazzas and restaurants. We decided to return to Rome in 2014 for a land holiday and chose... More

Staying in Navona / Pantheon / Campo de’ Fiori

Neighborhood Profile
Navona / Pantheon / Campo de’ Fiori
With three of Rome’s most beloved piazzas within a five-minute walk of each other, the Navona/Pantheon/Campo area may be the prettiest and most picturesque area of the city. Join the beautiful throngs hanging out in cafes, boutiques, art galleries, and wine bars, or peek at a neighborhood museum or monument. If you want nonstop movida, the streets here are busy with chic bicyclists and Vespa drivers, street vendors, merchants, and locals. There is no rhyme or reason to its winding streets and there's something to see around every corner, so take pleasure in a spontaneous wander.
