The single room I got was tiny but clean and peaceful. The hotel is very well located (near Piazza di Spagna). (less than 10min walk from metro station) If you have luggage though, keep in mind that there's no lift at Spagna metro station. Taxi station at one minute walk from the hotel. Great hospitality and kindness by the staf.... More

My husband, daughter and I stayed at the Hotel San Carlo in February and loved it. The rooms were comfortable, staff helpful, and location charming. I highly recommend this hotel. It was one of the nicest we stayed in on our trip to Italy.

Have just returned from a long weekend with a group of friends. Previous to our visit the hotel staff booked the taxi from airport and made bookings for dinner in nearby restaurants. They also advised us that the Rome marathon was taking place that weekend and all tours in the city were cancelled which helped us plan our time more... More

We arrived at the Hotel San Carlo late on a Thursday evening. We had a rental car and had to park 5 blocks away in a public garage. The staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming. Because of the rapid fall in the euro just prior to our trip we pay US$149/night or the rough equivalent. You would... More

I have stayed at San Carlo four times - with friends, with my partner and also by myself on various holidays to Rome from 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2011. I have always stayed here, as there are a myriad of rooms to choose from. With my two friends, we got a large three bed bedroom with an ensuite and a... More

We stayed here a week in February 2015 and it was great. The room was quiet, breakfast perfect, and the location can not be beat. A few blocks from the Spanish Steps and the Metro stop at Spanga (sp?). Staff was very helpful as well. We thought the beds were a notch above and comfy. In room frig, air con... More

We were on a couples vacation and very glad to choose the small and nice hotel with an excellent service, very good location and perfect breakfast. If you will visit Rome for a short term, and want to enjoy the beauty of city by foot San Carlo Hotel will be an excellent choice to stay. It is very close to... More

We visited Rome via air from Paris (buckle up for an exciting taxi ride from the airport to Rome city center! be sure you only take an approved taxi from the stand). Upon arriving at Hotel San Carlo we were immediately in love. The staff greeted us with open arms (literally) and the bell hop whisked away our luggage with... More

I cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Rome. Everything is just "the best" - staff, location, staff, cleanliness, staff, breakfast, staff and price. As you saw, I mentioned staff a lot. They are the best. Alberto, the manager will do anything to ensure you have a perfect stay. Victoria and Rosanna are also wonderful, as are the rest of the... More

Staying in Campo Marzio

Neighborhood Profile
Campo Marzio
From its original role as ancient army training fields to its present-day identity as one of the city’s most desirable neighborhoods, the Campo Marzio is the best place to get lost in Rome. Gorgeous Renaissance and Baroque palazzos line the streets, and are filled with enticing boutiques and food shops. By day, Rome’s best-dressed denizens criss-cross its streets in a fashionable parade of errands, occasionally pausing to look fabulous in gorgeous piazzas like San Lorenzo in Lucina. Campo Marzio can be a bit of a sleeper after aperitivi hour (9pm), so visit by day and experience the pulse of daytime Rome.
