We visit Rome two or three times a year and always stay at the Hotel San Carlo. The location is perfect - close to the Piazza di Spagna metro stop and within walking distance of many historical sights, churches, restaurants and terrific shopping. The rooms are spotless. Wi-fi is free and works well. Two English TV news channels (channels in... More

Perfect location. Three blocks from Spanish steps. Easy walking distance to Trevi Fountain, Colloseum, and Pantheon. Also, moderate walk to the Vatican. Location couldn't be better. Extremely clean. Professional, helpful staff. Great continental breakfast on outdoor patio. Moderately priced. Hotel staff anticipated every need including pre-arranging cab to airport. Overall, outstanding value!

This hotel had nice, comfortable rooms and a great breakfast each morning. The location was only steps away from great dining, shopping and sites. We did not hear any street noise. The staff were customer oriented and were always friendly and helpful. They opened bottles of wine that we purchased at the grocery store. I would recommend this hotel for... More

The location is great - close to the Spanish steps, numerous restaurants and shopping. Metro stop 7 min walk away whisks one off to many sites in the city. We experienced difficulty getting to hotel as the taxi refused to take us down the street there - so we had to drag our luggage a few blocks to the hotel... More

Three nights in comfortable beds and rooms. Very helpful and friendly staff. Reasonable rates and right next to the Prada/Gucchi designer road for my daughter. Central for many of the sights and quite close to the Hop On Hop Off bus routes. Breakfast is served in the rooftop cafe.

We visited Hotel San Carlo with two groups of totally 40 people in September and October this year. The location is perfect, close to taxi, bus and metro, and with nearly everything within walking distance if you are reasonably fit. The rooms and other facilities are very good compared to what you normally can expect from a 3 star hotel... More

We have been staying at the San Carlo for many years. It just keeps getting better. The location is the best. You are two blocks from the Piazza di Spagna metro stop and you can walk to most of the major sights in Rome. The rooms are immaculate and of a nice size. Plenty of soap and shampoo is provided.... The lovely Hotel San Carlo is centrally located - just down the street from the Spanish Steps. The staff is very friendly and helpful, especially Dante, who was there to help with my bags and at breakfast every morning to bring me a cappuccino. I like to start my day off with a decent breakfast and the Hotel San Carlo... More

We spent our "first ever" nights in Rome at the San Carlo. The room was comfortable and not lacking in any necessities. The service from the Front Desk was friendly. They were very accommodating in preparing a "very early breakfast" for us as we had the very early morning tour of the Vatican ( which we highly recommend ! )... More

Staying in Campo Marzio

Neighborhood Profile
Campo Marzio
From its original role as ancient army training fields to its present-day identity as one of the city’s most desirable neighborhoods, the Campo Marzio is the best place to get lost in Rome. Gorgeous Renaissance and Baroque palazzos line the streets, and are filled with enticing boutiques and food shops. By day, Rome’s best-dressed denizens criss-cross its streets in a fashionable parade of errands, occasionally pausing to look fabulous in gorgeous piazzas like San Lorenzo in Lucina. Campo Marzio can be a bit of a sleeper after aperitivi hour (9pm), so visit by day and experience the pulse of daytime Rome.
