We visited Rome via air from Paris (buckle up for an exciting taxi ride from the airport to Rome city center! be sure you only take an approved taxi from the stand). Upon arriving at Hotel San Carlo we were immediately in love. The staff greeted us with open arms (literally) and the bell hop whisked away our luggage with... More

I am lucky to be able to visit Rome for extended stays and I can't imagine a better place than Hotel San Carlo . This visit was my 11th time at the hotel and was for 28 nights . From Alberto and Victoria all the way through the staff , the treatment that they provide is wonderful . That they... More

I cannot imagine staying anywhere else in Rome. Everything is just "the best" - staff, location, staff, cleanliness, staff, breakfast, staff and price. As you saw, I mentioned staff a lot. They are the best. Alberto, the manager will do anything to ensure you have a perfect stay. Victoria and Rosanna are also wonderful, as are the rest of the... More

Overwhelmingly wonderful! Wife and I stayed 5 nights. Very clean. Super friendly staff - all of them. One of the most complete and delicious breakfasts served in a delightful fourth floor terrace. Close to the Spanish Stairs Piazza area, excellent food, gelato, bus, subway, visitors bureau, shopping and museums nearby and within easy walks distance. We definitely recommend this hotel,... I have been using this hotel for many years and in reality I feel so at home there. My wife and I simply love this small hotel, bang in the centre of Rome a few steps away from the Spanish Steps and Via del Corso. The owners, Alberto, and his wife, Victoria, have always shown the best hospitality towards us.... More

We stayed here for 4 nights and found the location very convenient. The room was quite small, as to be expected in a capital city, but it was clean and the bathroom was a decent size with bath/shower. The staff were helpful, and the breakfast is served on the terrace on the top floor. The food is fresh and there... More

I really like this hotel - it's perfectly situated just a few minutes walk from a metro stop, and within easy walking distance of the spanish steps (3m) to the trevi fountain (10m), and the pantheon (12m). the forum is about a 20m walk while the colosseum is about 30. of course depending on your speed. basically, it's the best... Small hotel with great value and location. Immaculate, safe location, grocery and good restaurants close by. Luxury shopping yards from hotel. Friendly and accommodating staff. There's a driver that has close association with staff, sorry that I can't remember his name, who speaks excellent English, and is very knowledgeable about Roman history. Although he is not certified to lead tour... More

I stayed in this comfortable, low key hotel near the Spanish steps with a small tour group consisting of 10 women. The staff was very helpful & we enjoyed breakfast every morning on a covered terrace. My room was large by European standards & the bathroom was small but serviceable. But the very best thing was a large private balcony... More

This is a great establishment, the staff was always very helpful keeping you away from the traps. Clean, comfortable and what a location. And the best of all no surprises on the bill at the end... Just a couple of hundred yards from the Spanish steps, near a cab station and plenty of dinning all around.

Staying in Colonna

Neighborhood Profile
Colonna
Frantic fashionistas, pedicured politicos, goal-oriented tourists, and on-the-go locals cross paths every day in Colonna, a delightful chaos in the very center of the city. Even though it has some of the city’s loveliest sites—a 2nd century column, Belle Epoque shopping center, and a magnificent Baroque parliament building—Colonna is not just another pretty face, but the cosmopolitan eye of Rome’s cultural storm. Colonna can safely say it has the best of Rome: museums, boutiques, window displays, restaurants, cafes, and people watching.
