The friendliest staff with a genuine smile. Nothing was too much trouble and they were most helpful. The Hotel was conveniently located within walking distance of attractions. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I would definitely return again someday.

The hotel looks like a hostel, with young people all around. The rooms were renovated and cozy. Private bathroom, with ok amenity products. Location is good, 4 blocks from Termini Station, nice restaurants around.

A word of warning! If you came here after visiting the Hotel Romae website well take heed.. The Romae is now the "YELLOW" youth hostel. So if you want a nice hotel like the Romae used to be then go look elsewhere. If you need a youth hostel aimed at young adults its probably just what you need, close to... More

We booked a 4-person room for one night at Hotel Romae in August 2014 before we go to Assisi next day morning. The room is simple as a hostel. Wifi connection in room is very very bad (can be said no connection in room). We have to go outside and stand near the stairs to get the wifi connection. It... More

Walking distance to Rome train station, convenient for subway and other transportation too. Several local restaurants and cafe close by, as well as super market. The staff are nice, room is clean. Good price for the location

Booked for 6 nights and stayed only 1. Our room was clean and the shower was brilliant but really if you are over 25 and need a good nights sleep then don't stay here. Didn't sleep as people coming in til 4am shouting, banging on doors etc. The hotel staff apologised and understood our point so we cannot fault them.... More

Hardly a hotel! DONT STAY HERE!!! unless you like drunk screaming teenagers at your window ! And the smell of vomit ! Not even a good location ! So depressed that i had to spend my time in the beautiful rome at what i believed was a decent hotel ... Its OKAY for the price, but the good reviews are... More

Stayed here twice about 10yrs ago. A little more basic and had not so charming grey carpet in the room vs the nice hardwood floors I remember from last visit. Also didn't get the welcoming fruit in the room this time...just some nice touches that were missed. Overall still a good basic room in good location with nice staff.

This motel is cheap, cheerful, clean and handy to the train, bus, and metro. Only downside would be if you wanted a quiet place to stay as the Hotel Romae caters for the youth market but we found it fine. There are excellent restaurants across the road. Our package included breakfast which we had in the pub across the road.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
