I visited The Yellow while I was staying in Rome. I was excited to find the lounge/bar area in the basement of the hostel. It made things really convenient and meeting new friends easy! I met a bunch of people from my home town there which was really cool, I wouldn't have met them otherwise I doubt. There were $3... More

We stayed at the Yellow just after Christmas and were very comfortable there. It's conveniently located very close to the train station, so we pretty much walked everywhere (including to the ruins), and had no real problems. Also, the staff was incredibly sweet. My boyfriend proposed our first night in Rome and the front desk staff upgraded our room for... More

Just a short walk from the main metro station, this hostel is highly convenient for backpackers. Rooms are well equipped, staff are friendly and knowledgable, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The water temperature was difficult to regulate in the showers, but aside from this, my stay was splendid.

The friendliest staff with a genuine smile. Nothing was too much trouble and they were most helpful. The Hotel was conveniently located within walking distance of attractions. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I would definitely return again someday.

The hotel looks like a hostel, with young people all around. The rooms were renovated and cozy. Private bathroom, with ok amenity products. Location is good, 4 blocks from Termini Station, nice restaurants around.

A word of warning! If you came here after visiting the Hotel Romae website well take heed.. The Romae is now the "YELLOW" youth hostel. So if you want a nice hotel like the Romae used to be then go look elsewhere. If you need a youth hostel aimed at young adults its probably just what you need, close to... More

We booked a 4-person room for one night at Hotel Romae in August 2014 before we go to Assisi next day morning. The room is simple as a hostel. Wifi connection in room is very very bad (can be said no connection in room). We have to go outside and stand near the stairs to get the wifi connection. It... More

Walking distance to Rome train station, convenient for subway and other transportation too. Several local restaurants and cafe close by, as well as super market. The staff are nice, room is clean. Good price for the location

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
