Hi, We just returned to Athens, from a 3-day trip to Rome. We were looking for a short escape from the realities of dealing with 3 young children, in a centrally-located place, in a hotel where nothing could go wrong. Indeed, that is what we got ! We aimed for a superior room with bathtub. I am reading other reviews... More

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Plaza over New Year. The Hotel is charming with an amazing location. The lobby is nice and looks like a museum. However, the room (at least our room) was small. The bathroom was not well maintained and the carpet in the room was stained and dirty. The handle of the closet was broken while... More

We didn't stay at this hotel but called in a few times around 6pm for pre dinner drinks. Renowned for its faded glory, I would not stay at the hotel - read the reviews, but certainly recommend it as a great place to sit in the quiet calm of its elegant lounge off the Via del Corso. The staff were... More

We actually stumbled upon this hotel quite by accident. We had reservations in the Bernini Bristol Hotel a little ways away. Unfortunately when we arrived they had an issue with our room, so the kind staff there booked us at no additional cost fit one night at the Grand Hotel Plaza. What luck! The hotel staff were kind. The hotel... More

Perfect location and some of the staff was really nice and helpful. Elevators smell like an open sewer and hotel needs immediate renovation. Architecture is really beautiful. Rooms are decent size but bathrooms are too small. Bedding was wonderful. Loved customer service of Fabio, bellman, and staff at the bar.

On the good side : Excellent location , wonderful lobby , glamorous setting , helpful staff , very clean . On the bad side : Very cold lobby , spotty wifi , can use some remodeling , room took about a day to heat , room under equipped . I've been visiting Rome on an annual basis for fifteen years, for both business and holiday. In addition to staying at the Grand Hotel Plaza, I've also frequented the Westin, St. Regis, Intercontinental, and a few boutique hotels as well. But I gravitate to the Grand Hotel Plaza and for one reason only-- the location. There is no doubt that... More

Stunning hotel. Public rooms out of this world! The staff are very professional and were extremely friendly. The location of the hotel is right in the centre of town yet it was very quiet inside. Highly recommended.

Staying in Campo Marzio

Neighborhood Profile
Campo Marzio
From its original role as ancient army training fields to its present-day identity as one of the city’s most desirable neighborhoods, the Campo Marzio is the best place to get lost in Rome. Gorgeous Renaissance and Baroque palazzos line the streets, and are filled with enticing boutiques and food shops. By day, Rome’s best-dressed denizens criss-cross its streets in a fashionable parade of errands, occasionally pausing to look fabulous in gorgeous piazzas like San Lorenzo in Lucina. Campo Marzio can be a bit of a sleeper after aperitivi hour (9pm), so visit by day and experience the pulse of daytime Rome.
