Clean, and in a safe area, and very close to the metro. The the front desk was very helpful, and all spoke English well. The wifi was pretty bad, don't expect to watch anything really. Very slow. The restaurant right across heats up their food, the one on the right are gross perverts, and the one across the street and... More

I have worked as Servicemanager and know what good guest service is! Hotel Des Artistes is spot on! Several of the staff helped us in a way that made us want to come back. Do not let the rather small Front Office area fool you. Room standard is great. Breakfast also. Location is calm and central. This is a very... More

Good location near Termini Train Station which is a great location from which to explore Rome. The hotel is a 10 minute walk away from the station. Rooms are reasonably well appointed but the air conditioning does not work particularly well and the rooms are quite warm. In Rome this can be a problem. There are numerous restaurants/bars in the... My initial booking was for a 6 bed dorm room at des artistes. On arrival, I was moved to another hotel 2 minutes walk around the corner called hotel Katty. The staff were helpful and friendly. The room was a 4 bed dorm next to 3 other rooms. It was small but clean and had a TV and wardrobe. Inside... More

Not a really helpful staff regards exceptional situations (I had to pay a room for 3 that I booked even if my friends have their flight cancelled because of the fire in the airport of Rome), they didn't even try to understand the situation! Plus the price of the private 3 beds room with shared bathroom was really expensive compare... More

Where do you start? Not enough bathrooms, very smelly, have to pay for wifi in rooms, free wifi in common areas never worked, one lift which you have to wait ages for, squeaky bed, dorm room door didn't close properly, horrible showers. Would never stay again.

Management was very forgiving of a booking error and presented us with a very modern large room that was perfect for my wife who had a broken foot and was using a walker. The location was in easy walking district of the railway and bus station with many great restaurants nearby. The price was the lowest we paid in Italy... More

We searched for hotel that wouldn't be too expensive and near the centre. This was a perfect match for our needs. The price-quality ratio is outstanding and we couldn't have wished for better hotel room and service as well. First impression we received when entering the hotel first time was how helpful and kind staff were. The room that was... More

hotel was clean and rooms attractive. Also has hostel rooms so plenty of jovial boistrous drunk youth. Front desk helpful but harried. No lobby, rooftop patio nice idea but not really comfortable. Basic metal tables and chairs and a few plants. Calling it a garden is a stretch...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
