We stayed for five days and couldn't asked for a more wonderful stay. The staff were exceptionally helpful and accomodating. We could walk to everything. The continental breakfast was everything you could ask for. We will definitely be back.

Canal view room was wonderful and we were treated to an occasional singing gondolier underneath our window! Breakfast is average continental. Staff were very friendly and helpful, cleanliness all through the hotel was exceptional

In October we stayed in the Hotel Columbia for the second time. We have never stayed in a better hotel! It's small, charming, has a great roof-top breakfast room and terrific breakfast, good location, and is scrupulously clean. But what really makes it special is the desk staff. We can't say enough about their kindness and helpfulness! We will stay... More

We just finished our stay at this gem of a hotel in Rome. It answered every need we could require. Close to Termini train & the metro station but without the train noise, well appointed rooms and very efficient, helpful & friendly staff met our needs. Part of our party departed to catch an early plane before breakfast began &... More

Good value option with an excellent location to access public transport and ancient sites by foot. Plenty of good value trattoria and restaurants in the local Monti area. Rooms functional, bar limited, continental breakfast sufficient to start the day. Service was excellent with superb advice in a professional manner. Unless you are after a more luxurious option a great base... More

We are frequent visitors to Rome. Being unhappy with our previous hotel base, we decided to stay at Hotel Columbia on the same street as our previous base and we are so glad that we did. From check in, throughout our 10 day stay, to check out, we were treated as valued and special guests! Any issues that we had... More

The hotel is well located, staffed by people who go out of their way to help and make one's stay pleasant. The superior rooms are spacious, quiet, and with excellent beds. The one problem is the dodgy WiFi system. It needs to be modernized and made more reliable. The neighborhood includes a wide choice of restaurants. The location is between... More

We can't compliment the staff enough. The woman who made our cappuccino ever morning was so nice. The afternoon front desk woman (Verena) is absolutely amazing. She makes sure you are taken care of whether it be directions, a to go breakfast or a room change. And you have her undivided attention while conversing with her. We were saddened we... More

This hotel, only a short walk from the Termini is wonderfully friendly. The staff are always available on hand and are very accommodating. Whilst the room is basic it has everything you need and to be honest, we only slept in the room as we were here to visit Rome. Not the Hotel. If we were ever to come back... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
