This hotel has Ben recommended by many of my colleagues and as a first time visitor I must agree. The rooms are comfortable and the terrace is perfect in the evening. The staff are always welcoming and extremely helpful and are never too busy to be of assistance.

We stayed four nights and were very happy at this hotel. The decor in our room was very plain apart from a beautiful chandelier but the bed was comfortable, the shower was good, there was plenty of space for our clothes and bits and pieces and it was spotlessly clean as was the rest of the hotel. It's a small... More

It doesn't look anything special from the outside, but once inside a friendly welcome and spotlessly clean and pleasant decor put you at ease. It really is a lovely hotel, quiet, yet situated very handy for the station. A lovely terrace for breakfast, surrounded by wonderful, fragrant plants and lemon trees, and a good buffet selection to kick start the... More

My husband and I spent 5 nights in a very quiet room (214) facing a courtyard. It's close to Termini and metro stops, and there is a grocery store down the street. The staff was by far the friendliest staff we have met on our travels. There is a delicious breakfast every morning, and someone there to make you a... More

Stayed for 5 nights, one of which was my wife's 50th birthday - the staff noticed from her passport and gave her a bottle of sparkling wine, a lovely surprise. We found the beds comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful, everywhere very clean and breakfast very nice. The WiFi is free to use. There's a lift, a roof terrace, daily... More

This hotel is deceptive, don't let the outside looks put you off. It is absolutely wonderful. It is within walking distance of many of the tourist sights. We stayed here for five nights while taking a long weekend break in Rome. Our room was a twin room and we had a bathroom with a shower. The room was spotlessly clean... More

Very close to rail station and walking distance to every where. The rooms are small but very clean and comfortable. I was a little cold on the first night but having asked the reception for extra blankets I was so pleased when we next got back and found thick throughout on the bed. The staff are so friendly and can't... More

After a mix up with the booking, I had my doubts about my upcoming stay at Hotel Columbia. However once I arrived and spent 11 days there my opinion was changed. The location is great, close to both Termini Central Station and Republica Metro Station. The staff are what make the difference with this hotel and others I have stayed... More

On a scale of one to ten I rate the Hotel Columbia a solid twenty! I give it this rating not just because the location and the accommodations cannot be beat, but primarily because all of the staff were so friendly and genuinely caring about our well being and the quality of our experience in Rome. For instance, my wife... More

Very quaint and charming hotel just by the opera house. Walking distance to everywhere - ESP termini station - making this the ideal spot. Don't let the facade fool you - very big and comfortable. An air of an era gone by. Wonderful breakfast room, so elegant and very charming. If you don't speak Italian, no big deal, staff make... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
