When we arrived a nice young man took our luggage and showed us the room. He was very helpful and friendly. Our room was an average size room for a hotel in Rome. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The TV worked well and we could get several channels. There was a coffee maker in the room... More

The hotel is well situated very close to Termini, not so far from city center. Really friendly personel would help and answere any question. The room was tidy but it need to be refreshed soon. Bathrom very small but ok anyway if you are big size it could be a problem. In general 4/5.

I arrived the hotel at 11:30PM and was told that my reservation was canceled without any prior notice. The receptionist firstly tell me that i canceled my reservation by myself. After I show my booking NO. to him, he introduced me to another hotel. though they reduced the room rate, I was so tired to run from one hotel to... More

I made reservation in this hotel for my stay early December and Return late December 2014. I was given a room with seemingly only a 3/4 size bed in it and no other furniture? As baths have all been built after these old buildings they are to be expected higher than the sleeping floor however this room had a bath... More

Hotel Sonya is a reasonably priced Rick Steves hotel with an elevator after you get up the one set of 8 – 10 steps. If you are driving the car park is about ½ block away and was 32 euro. Breakfast was included, was decent and was typical with excellent service. The hallways were interestingly warm to hot and the... More

I booked Hotel Sonya in March 2014 for a trip to Rome in November. I booked this hotel on the advice of Rick Steves. It is a good area--close to attractions, etc. My arrival went very well. The staff is courteous and their English is very good. They were very helpful with information and taxi's, etc. The room itself was... More

Got this hotel for me and 2 mates as it was the cheapest hotel that seemed fairly nice and in a good location. It was great. We got there a couple of hours before check in and were wondering whether they'd let us check in or not but a soon as we got there they took us up to our... More

The room in which I stayed one night was quiet and clean. The hotel is conveniently located, in a walking distance from the railway station and close to many touristical sites. Decoration deserved to be refreshed. Breakfast was I would say normal, nothing exceptional but good enough. Staff was helpful. During the week end, prices are multiplied by7 compared to... More

Great hotel. Easy to find as it is just 5 minutes from Termini train station. Very quick check in and super friendly staff. We were delighted with our room. It was quite spacious and well organised. Large full length mirror in the hall which was quite useful. Good size shower, another large mirror in bathroom. Bed is king size rather... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
