We stayed for a night before and after a cruise. Arrived late at Termini and walked to the hotel: no more than 10 minutes. Room was small but clean, nice linen. Breakfast included bread rolls, croissants, cereals and spreads. Juice and a coffee machine for drinks. Management was friendly. Wifi €3.00 unless you booked hotel directly and then it was... More

Stayed in Rome for 2 nights, so all we needed was a place to sleep that was clean and comfortable and that is exactly what Hotel Mariano was. We didn't pay a hefty price so we weren't expecting a 5* luxury resort! The rooms are clean, beds are really comfortable, and they were cleaned daily. Breakfast didn't have the biggest... More

This is not a bad little Hotel, once an Officers Quarters....it is a small clean and friendly place to base yourself at for a couple of days. 3 star hotel is what it is, nothing more.....the staff are friendly enough, the rooms are basic, but very clean. Comfy firm beds, TV, wardrobe, very modern shower room with sink and toilet... More

We stayed in December, 2014 for 3 nights. The room was really clean and comfy, as well as the bathroom. we chose this hotel because the nearby of the termini, and it was a really good idea! it was a bit difficult to find the hotel when we arrived to Rome because is in a little street in front of... We chose this hotel for the locality of the termini with access to the trains and metro lines. We were on a budget and it came in our price range. It was certainly value for money, clean and tidy. The reception staff were excellent...friendly and extremely helpful with advice for first time visitors to Rome. Would certainly recommend

We travelled on a Living Social voucher. The room was clean and comfortable. The shower was excellent. The staff were reasonably helpful - you must ASK, nothing is volunteered, but when asked directly the staff were helpful. They knew little about the attractions in Feb (reservations etc) but printed out a page and loaned us an electrical connection. We were... More

Me and my other half booked this hotel through a Groupon offer and stayed in January 2015. The hotel is close to the termini which is great for transport links. The hotel itself is down a little side street which although not the prettiest isn't as terrible as some people have made out. Reception staff were helpful and the room... More

I walked into this hotel. I paid 20 euros more than I would have had I booked online. The woman who checked me in was very nice. It was all down hill from there. Another man, short and stout in his 40's or 50's accosted me as I walked into the hotel the second time. I paid 60 euros for... More

After staying at The Mariano I felt compelled to write my first review. I'll start with the good points, its close to the Termini which for very little cost will get you to all of the main tourist attractions also eliminating getting ripped off by cheeky taxi drivers who drive like lunatics! It's also relatively cheap, although not cheap enough... More

The hotel is 5 minutes walk from the station and easy enough to find. The receptionists we had anything to do with spoke excellent English and politely endured our attempts at Italian. Our room was big, windows opening out onto the quiet street - we were there for 3 nights and there was no noise at all. En suite was... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
