I walked into this hotel. I paid 20 euros more than I would have had I booked online. The woman who checked me in was very nice. It was all down hill from there. Another man, short and stout in his 40's or 50's accosted me as I walked into the hotel the second time. I paid 60 euros for... More

After staying at The Mariano I felt compelled to write my first review. I'll start with the good points, its close to the Termini which for very little cost will get you to all of the main tourist attractions also eliminating getting ripped off by cheeky taxi drivers who drive like lunatics! It's also relatively cheap, although not cheap enough... More

The hotel is 5 minutes walk from the station and easy enough to find. The receptionists we had anything to do with spoke excellent English and politely endured our attempts at Italian. Our room was big, windows opening out onto the quiet street - we were there for 3 nights and there was no noise at all. En suite was... More

I stayed in this hotel 2 times - in August and December 2014. Second time we booked it through their website so we got a free wifi. Otherwise you shall pay around 4 euro for 3 days for 1 account (that can be used only by 1 device at one point of time). Rooms are small and clean, comfortable beds,... More

We stayed there for 4 nights at triple room (3 floor). Room was big and clean with street view. That's a pity that breakfast is extra paid - i'm not sure but around 5 euro/pp( so for us it was cheaper to go to small caffeterie nearby Termini station).

It claims 3 stars,. I think this is a bit misleading, however as a budget hotel (around £25 for a double per night) its excellent value, we had a decent size room, clean en suite, and we slept incredibly well Its well appointed being right next to the termini so easy and inexpensive to get to from the airport., Very... First of all, I called the hotel ahead of time to make sure it was a safe location for my family. The hotel was located right by the termini station, which was full of drunks, homeless and prostitutes. We were assaulted by the owner of a kiosk right by the hotel. We saw countless homeless people sleeping on the street... More

Some poor reports on TA, but we were very pleasantly surprised. Good sized room, comfortable King Size bed, nice bathroom (most rooms have showers but are slightly bigger) Spotlessly clean, quiet, convenient for transport. Breakfast is perfectly normal continental breakfast. Rolls, cream cheese, croissants, jams, Nutella, honey, biscuits. Cereals (choice of 3) are quite the norm for the Continent. Muesli,... More

Recently returned from a short break to Rome, booked with tourcenter.co.uk. The hotel is handy for Termini train station which is just a 2 minute walk away. The hotel itself is clean with friendly and helpful staff. The room we had was just right for a few nights. Comfy bed, good air-con/heating with a really strong shower. Windows fully sound... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
