The location of the hotel is great - very close to Colosseum and Roman Forum (we walked to all the major attractions). Our room had a great view of the Roman Forum. The room was large and also had a living area. We traveled with our two young children and the older one was a bit sick when we arrived... More

We booked the hotel for 4 nights and didn't know what to expect! Upon arrival the scene looked recently refurbished and not finished, but the service was outstanding, particularly by the front officer who welcomed us, Fabio! He gave us the requested information and more! He didn't hesitate to spare his time and direct lost tourists like ourselves, and he... More

Stayed here on our honeymoon 10 years ago and returned for our anniversary in 2014. Huge mistake. Nothing had changed in ten years - meaning that they didn't fix anything over the past 10 years. The toilet was broken in our first room. In the second room the glass lamps were broken and never fixed or replaced. The breakfast is... More

We booked a standard room at Hotel de Rome and upon arrival were told we could have a standard room or be upgraded to a room with a view at Richmond Hotel 2 doors down from this hotel. They had me a upgrade and view. The view from our room was outstanding - a wonderful view of the Vittorio and... More

So we arrived and entered the lobby, waited at the desk but no one ever came. We looked for a bell or a phone - nothing. No signs indicating someone would "be right back" - we ultimately asked the sidewalk cafe if they knew who to call and were told that the Hotel de Rome two doors down is where... More

We booked the Richmond hotel online as the location was fantastic, however my heart well and truly sank when we arrived. We had to check in at the hotel next door and make our way through a disused room to access the Richmond hotel. The walls are dark grey and look very dirty and grotty. All through the coridoors and... More

We also read the reviews prior to our stay and they were accurate. The only plus point was the free sweeties at reception. We had a refurbished room but all I can say is that the standard was unacceptable. On our arrival and on the first use of the toilet the modern plastic toilet flush fell off the wall, landing... Dear Cluggy, thank you for reviewing our hotel. We are sorry if something in your room was not working properly during your stay: I'm glad to know that our staff tried to be helpful. Our hotel is centrally heated and one has simply to turn it off when feeling the room too hot. Our "view" it's not just overlooking the... More

We had read the previous reviews and thought it can't be that bad. We should have taken notice. The hotel is undergoing renovations and had to be accessed through the hotel next door. Unfortunately we were given a room that hadn't been renovated. The bed base was torn/frayed all around the edge. There were patches of stains on the lower... More

Dear June, thank you for the time you dedicated to review our hotel. We apologize for any inconvenience you had during your stay. You're right, not all the hotel rooms have been renovated yet, for this reason we had very competitive rates. We have taken in good consideration what was uncomfortable in you room: we must say that some things... More

3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2014

I stayed here for three nights in January 2014 with my girlfriend. First of all, the location is excellent. It's right near the Colossuem and close to the subway. We walked from Termini train station, so it is doable, but it is probably easier just to get the subway and walk the rest of the way. It was also pretty... More

Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
