This is a very nice hotel if you're looking for a place close to the Subway station, and the Bus/Train Terminal (Termini) without dealing with the people carrying luggage all day. From there you can literally walk to downtown and still feel free from the touristic gravity around, you know that's important in a big city like Rome. The hotel... More

Friendly and helpful hotel staff, very good location, spacious rooms and bathroom. It is located near famous sights such as the Piazza Di Spagna and the Colosseum. It is also close to a metro station.Offers a good breakfast.

While centrally located and seemingly affordable, this hotel is clearly in a bad shape. It's more like a hostel than a low-budget hotel, with my main issues being the limited Wi-Fi (just in the lobby area and not in the rooms) and the overall feeling that I am in a decrepit building, which is not great for vacations. You may... More

Unfortunately our booking for the hotel we chose was not sent to the hotel, therefore the hotel manager went to great lengths to find another one for us. Unfortunately he was only able to find a vacancy at hotel Zara in Rome and we were not privy to previous reviews on this hotel. The staff were rude and did not... More

I went for a city break from October 3rd to October 5th with my wife. Agency booked Zara for us. This was my 3rd trip to Rome, and I could tell that we got what I expected. Hotel Zara is small hotel at the great location. Just few steps from Via Nazionale, and 7 minute brisk walk to Spanish steps... More

Hotel Zara has the bare minimum in terms of facilities. The wifi is limited to allocated common areas ( not rooms), the restaurant provides a very basic breakfast only, housekeeping is simple and stock not replenished daily (towels, soap etc). The showers in the room are very small and have shower curtain only, no screen. This hotel, however, is in... More

Hotel staff rude and unhelpful. Security disgraceful. No safe in rooms or available to use anywhere in the hotel. On numerous occasion the reception was unattended with room keys clearly marked with room numbers on. We were told to leave the room key at reception, we came back to the hotel at 10.30 one night to find the reception unattended,... More

Do not recommend staying at the Hotel Zara! Unfortunately stayed here July 2014. Our family of 5 had 2 rooms booked. We were extremely disappointed, especially since an AMA travel agent made this booking for us. Thought it would be okay as I noticed it was also used by a large tour company. We were so wrong. Upon arrival, Hotel... More

After reading quite a lot of bad reviews about this place i was a bit worried about staying here. As it turns out it was perfect for us, it had a bed to sleep in a shower and a toilet what more do you need when in rome. Yes it was a bit out dated and old fashioned but i... More

We only stayed here for one night, thinking that it would be handy to be close to Termini, but EUR 79 was way over-priced. Our room was only one star at most. Fittings falling off the walls, tiny bathroom with curtained shower, no view (except of neighbors), sloping shelf under the mirror (so that things slide off, haha). No internet... More

Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
