We stayed here for 3 nights on a City Break in January. Young man on Reception was extremely friendly and spoke excellent English. Room was small but very clean - beds made, room cleaned and towels changed daily. I do not go on holiday to spend a lot of time in a hotel bedroom!! It was certainly 'fit for purpose'... more

My wife and I and two children, 16 and 11 stayed here for 4 nights and we found it to be neat and clean. The staff were helpful at all times. We had two neighbouring rooms which were not large, but adequate. The lift is tiny as are most that are retrofitted to old buildings in Italy, but that's part... more

Having booked a short break at this hotel and then read several reviews which were not favourable we were rather concerned. However we found nothing to complain about. Young man on reception was always polite and helpful. We always had hot water and the breakfast was continental style but quite adequate. The hotel is smart and chic and in walking... more

I'm just back home after 11 days in Italy, 2 of these nights where spent in Rome at the Hotel Virgilio. Very good location as it was within walking distance of the train station and Colosseum. First thing I noticed about the Hotel was how unfriendly the lady at reception was - I don't think she ever cracked a smile... more

April 26-29, 2007 We stayed at the Hotel Virgilio three nights this past April 2007. Not once was I able to take a hot shower during our stay - I was convinced that you either had to get up at the crack of dawn or shower after everyone had gone to bed! The desk attendant always seemed so dumbfounded by... more

Just returned from Hotel Virgilio - Very clean and comfortable rooms. Bathroom kept clean with towels changed frequently. Breakfast was very basic for the price - though the best cup of tea ever! Staff both friendly and helpful. Location was perfect - only 6 mins from Coloseum, 10 minutes from Trevi Fountain and 12 minutes from Spanish Steps. Vatican was... more

I've stayed a few times in Rome and it seems that it is hard to find a reasonably priced hotel where one could achieve some level of mental comfort, let alone physical. In this one, I experienced: - a broken ventillator in the bathroom which was extremely loud and made for a very uneasy feeling when using the bathroom (it... more
