We stayed at the Hotel Selene for 3 nights during our trip to Rome. Got upgraded for free, and had a very nice and super clean room. The breakfast buffet was totally fine - everything you could have asked for. And last but not least, the staff was great! So friendly, helpful and always with a smile on their face... More

4 block walking distance from Main Train Terminal. At a good pace, 20 minutes walking distance to most major sights (in different directions). Can get Hop on Hop off Bus at train terminal. Hotel very clean, staff speak excellent English, and go out of their way to try to be helpful. Room seemed to be recently renovated and was very... More

Booked this hotel after reading excellent reviews on Tripadvisor and it did not disappoint us. Very friendly staff greeted us at reception with a map of Rome highlighting the transport links and places of interest. The family room was a good size as was the bathroom and they were spotless. It is on a quiet road so we all had... More

We chose the Selene for its closeness to Termini transport connections and its reasonable price. We arrived at night but it was still easy to find only a 5-10 min walk from Termini and one block from the Opera House. It is a good location for transport links, close enough to walk to attractions and with nearby bars and restaurants... More

Centrally located lower priced hotel, we booked 4 mos in advance online direct with hotel and received a great rate for a double comfort on 3rd floor. room was very clean, quiet and bathroom large- except for the tiny shower. The hotel was so accomodating- they stored our bags for us 3 days before we checked in (so we didn't... More

The Selene couldn't be in a better location - a block and a half from Termini, close to loads of buses, and reasonable walking distance to the Colosseum. The staff are really pleasant and helpful, even to the point of allowing us an early breakfast to make an early train departure.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
