I was so impressed by the staff at Hotel Selene Roma. From booking to check-out, the process was smooth and professional. I e-mailed them ahead of time to let them know that I cannot eat gluten, and they assured me that there would be gluten-free food available for breakfast. At check-in, they again mentioned that they were prepared to accommodate... More

My husband and I stayed in this hotel during our honeymoon to Rome, Italy from 11/2/14-11/8/14. There is sooo much positive to say about this place. It is perfectly located right near Termini Station (about a 5-7min walk) so its not too far but away from all the hustle and bustle of that station. It is also centralized to all... More

My husband and I stayed here October 14-18 as part of the last leg of our trip to Italy. I discovered the hotel through Rick Steve’s Italy 2013 and cross referenced reviews on Trip Advisor. The primary reason for selecting this hotel was its proximity to the Termini Station because we would be arriving by train from Florence and had... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
