I stayed in Hotel California with my fiance from 12.08 to 16.08. The hotel was very nice and clean. Our room looked like it had been just renovated and had stylish decore in both the bedroom and bathroom. As the weather was very very hot (36 degrees celcius), the cold air conditioning in the room served its full purpose well.... More

Hotel California is a small hotel near the room train station. The rooms are not very large but they are very tidy The Air condition works well. The elevator is in the center of the hotel and it can get very hot. Breakfast was provided and There is a decent selection of meats/cheese/ pastries. Check in was easy. The front... More

Location was very good, you could walk to sights or get a quick train which was around the corner from the hotel. Customer service was good and the rooms were clean, tidy, with plenty of hanging space and drawers. The one thing I thought was strange was the bathroom set up. The shower has little privacy as it has no... More

This was our second time staying in a hotel in Rome. First time we stayed 2 blocks away from Fontana Di Trevi and this time we picked a hotel closed to the Termini for location purposes. We arrived from Genova in the train at 4PM and we (2 adults and my 12 years old daughter) dragged alone our 3 big... More

Location is a good as everyone has posted, however a few small improvements could make the hotel much better. A bit over-priced for the quality of room, however would at least expect proper bed comforter. Requested blanket and it became a whole 30-min issue with staff trying to find additional sheet to put over a comforter that was wedged in... More

Hi there, we are sorry that you found some issues with your stay here. Actually yes, when the average temperature is 35°C, like during this weeks, we think that is normal to set the beds with no blankets. Anyway, there are always a couple more in the closets and, more important, the staff provided you what you asked for as... More

I stayed at this hotel in July 2015 for 4 nights with two of my girlfriends. On arrival at the hotel the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Our room was available earlier than the normal check in time which was a lovely bonus after travelling since the early hours! If it wasn't to be ready the hotel were going... More

Good location near metro station and Termini rail station. A lot of restorans and bars near the hotel, possibilities for lunch and dinner. Good breakfest. Negatives: Not so good conditioner in room, the noise from the window at night.

Stayed in California twice during our May 15 trip and the location is perfect! Just 2 streets away from the train station. Lots of food around the hotel, the indian curry restaurant is round the corner is cheap and sells authentic indian curry. Can skip the chicken place though, food is bad. Staff in California Hotel is awesome too, providing... More

The hotel is located really close to the Termini station and Santa Maria Maggiore and within 10-15 minutes walking from Colosseum. Being close to Termini station gives you a great variety of transportation options (some of which: bus 64 to Piazza Navona and Vatican-St Peter, bus H to Trastevere all from the Termini Bus stations, Metro A line to Spagna).... Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
