I booked this place through Hotwire and was somewhat worried after reading reviews on Tripadvisor. But we had a perfect stay here, especially for what we paid (four nights for about 800 euros) with our two kids. The location is perfect if you like to walk all over town: Piazza Navona, Colosseum and the Spanish stairs and Via dei Condotti... More

Good: good value. large, clean space in a great centre Rome location for a very reasonable price. It included a Queen bed, a roll out couch and the potential of a kitchen. It did have a fridge, a hot-plate, some plates and cups. Maria was very nice and helpful. If tight for budget, good place. Bad: the room was very... More

Just arrived from a month holiday in Europe.... we stayed at Residence Barberini, during 2nd September till the 6th... The reviews this hotel seems to get is very confusing, ie we arrived and what was shown and advertised on trip adviser and hotel.com, were two different things... The rooms were so shabby that my children refused to sleep on pull... More

Just arrived home from rome and our stay at the barberini hotel, lovely hotel spotlessly clean, very quiet and only a nice 10min walk to the Trevi Fountain area, but breakfast for a 4star hotel was average usual euro.style break kier but when I asked for toast there was a 4euro price tag per slice so no toast.

Except the kitchen ( a little bit dirty, only two glasses ans some furniture) the hotel is very good. Location is good and you have a quiet place to stay. Good location, good staff, good apartment quality In any case if we have to come back to Rome, we surely book here again

Hotel- The hotel was on the third floor- no elevator, of course. Poorly lit stairwell that is pitch dark when the lights are off. Beware!! The room wasn't too bad. Many of the lights in the room didn't work. The wifi worked in the hallway, not in the room. The breakfast was fantastic though!! Area- This was the best aspect... More

We last stayed here in 2003 and had great memories of a small luxury boutique apartment so we were looking forward to a return stay. Sadly it is not the same place. There has been no investment in the infrastructure and the apartment is tired and shabby . Chipped paintwork and furniture, grotty kitchen cabinets, down at heel bathroom that... More

We believe the receptionist (Filipinese woman) has stolen a newly bought leather bag from our travel bags that we have left to look after at the reception.. So beware, though she has looked so friendly, smiled and tried to be extra-helpful with our plans to go to airport..

My family of 5 (Plus a dog and a cat) stayed at Residence Barberini for three weeks in September, Initially, everything was great. The bellmen are friendly and attentive. The suite was adequate for a short stay. We had three kids in the "living" room, two adults in the bed room and there was one small bathroom and a small... More

Dear Sir, what you write about the payment is not correct because you got a very low rate, not usual in the high season, agreed for a long stay of 30 days. As you know, long stays must be paid in advance and are not refundable, nor in a standard renting of a city-flat. Most of all, all the Guests... More

Ever since our family grew bigger (now we have 4 kids), we always stay here whenever we travel to Rome. It was our 3rd time, after 2 years, but the receptionist remembered us and we received a warm welcome. The location is very good, you can walk to Trevi fountain and Spanish steps, and also close to the subway station.... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
