this hotel, we thought was going to have a lot of amenities, no air conditioning, no room service, the room 556 was facing the back of the hotel, every morning garbage trucks emptying. a rather horrible alarm clock. the room is very dated, older but clean. . Think twice before booking the hotel. The front desk staff, were bothered for... More

The hotel is really old but the location is great. Don't be fooled by the pictures on the website. If you get a room facing the square, make sure it is higher up. At night with windows open you can hear cops talking and noise from the square. We were in room 136. The room was spacious, but the furniture could... More

The Colonna is an older building situated on the opposite side of a piazza to the Italian Parliament .The are a small number of police 24hrs and you can't access the square by car. We stayed there twice on either side of a five day tour for six days. The first room was a bit downbeaten with poor quality air condition... More

Perfect location, polite and professional staff, good solid breakfast on a outdoor terrace, with a view over the rooftops of Rome. All in all, this may be the best hotel for a visit in Rome. There is only 2 minutes to the Pantheon and 5 minutes to the Trevi fountain. 20 minutes to the Colosseum.

Well-located, in the Parliament square. Nice bulding, well-maintained. Price is ok compared to where is located. The terrace where breakfast is served is the best attraction of the hotel. Rooms are ok. It could be a bit chilly in cold weather as the heating service is not even during the whole day. Quality of service really varies depending on who... More

The Colonna Palace is a perfect location allowing you to walk to virtually any of the 'tourist' attractions - Vatican / St. Peters, Coliseum, the Forum, museums, the Pantheon, and plenty of shopping. Our room was on the 3rd floor over looking the piazza shared with the Parliament building. Other reviews are correct. The piazza here can be blocked off... More

This is a classic Bait & Switch hotel -- absolutely a 2 to 3 star hotel, not even close to 4 star rating. The hotel is right next to the chamber of deputies which is AWFUL because there are frequent demonstrations and police barricades blocking off the hotel entrance. They don't tell you that until you arrive :) The room... More

We booked the family room (681 and 682) on the 6th floor which was lovely - comfy beds, lots of room. We had booked the hotel because of the roof terrace and the hot tub - sadly the hot tub wasn't filled and looked like it hadn't been filled for a while. Things like the 7 Euro charge for wifi... Perfect central location walking distance to all major attractions. Spent 2 nights and it was great. Rooms are a touch dated but bathrooms have been remodelled and were great. Rooftop breakfast is not to be missed, the views were nice and food was good too. Location allowed us to make mid day pit stop breaks which was great. Service was... More

Great location of this hotel, you can walk to all the sights. Much better then my last trip 10 years ago. Room was clean and tidy, the beds probably need an upgrade, but after all the walking you will do, its a very comfortable sleep! Breakfast on the top floor was adequate, when the weather is fine the terrace is... More

Staying in Colonna

Neighborhood Profile
Colonna
Frantic fashionistas, pedicured politicos, goal-oriented tourists, and on-the-go locals cross paths every day in Colonna, a delightful chaos in the very center of the city. Even though it has some of the city’s loveliest sites—a 2nd century column, Belle Epoque shopping center, and a magnificent Baroque parliament building—Colonna is not just another pretty face, but the cosmopolitan eye of Rome’s cultural storm. Colonna can safely say it has the best of Rome: museums, boutiques, window displays, restaurants, cafes, and people watching.
