The positives. It is conveniently located. It does not get better for visiting Vatican sites. We walk a lot (because we like it) and never took metro to get anywhere in the center of Rome including the colliseum, but the metro is one or two blocks away. The rooms are very nicely remodeled. Marble and granite everywhere, stylish and modern... more

This hotel sits between the Ottoviano/St Peters Metro station and the Vatican, 2 minute walk from each, making it the perfect location for seeing the whole of Rome. Opposite St Peter's square there is a line of bus stops for all the sight seeing buses which we found a great way of getting around. The hotel is basic and amenities... more

We stayed for three nights at the Hotel Amalia and were very satisfied. The location is great, a short walk to the Vatican and only 2 minutes walk to the Ottaviano metro station. Room and bathroom were very modern and clean, TV had a good choice of channels, air con was very effective and reception staff were friendly and helpful.... more

Cleaniness was terrible - breakfast table cloth not replaced until blotched. Minimal breakfast choices (at least amongst the 6 hotels in other cities we stayed on similar rate). Used towels and beddings were not replaced - replacements on request were torn. Dirty and blocked bath tub to the extent of flooding. No refill of soap and shampoo. Morning call request... more

Just come back from a City Break in Rome and was very pleased with our hotel. The Rooms were spotless, and very spacious. The air conditioning was really good (much needed in Rome in August) Didnt have a view of the Vatican which we hoped for but had a view of the street looking down to the Vatican so wasnt... more

We stayed at this hotel for a couple nights on the 3rd floor in room 307 facing the Vatican, however we had no view. The rooms were large and included a small tv, mini-bar, tall ceilings, beautiful marble floors and a phone. Be aware there were no clocks of any kind (typical in Europe). Since it was so hot in... more

This hotel is a great location with a five minute walk from the vatian. Now my best tips 1 When doing all the sights do it by getting on and off the METRO for 1 euro (Very easy to find and easy access TO ALL SIGHTS>) 2 Never buy a beer or any drink outside drink at the counter or... more

Amalia had the most perfect location for us. It was a 10 minute walk to the Vatican and St. Peter's, 15 minute walk to Castel Saint Angelo and a 5 minute walk to the subway on Ottavian which would take you to all the great spots like Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Piazza Del Popolo, Colloseum, Palantine Hills, etc... We walked... more

We stayed at the Amalia for 4 nights. We found the hotel to be quiet and clean. The airconditioner was great. The front end staff was pleasant and helpful, they answered our questions about the tours that were offered. Breakfast was buns and cereal and cakes, this was the typical breakfast we found at all the Italy citys we stayed... more
