Upon arrival we were checked in a small room (storage type): one night table for a double bed as no room for a second one. A tiny cupboard and no way to move in the room if you are two; one has to stay on the bed while the other moves. When claiming at the reception, we were told that... More

This was good value for money. We wanted a change of room, which was arranged promptly and with good grace. Good breakfast. A short walk to Termini means that travel to anywhere, including express bus to airports, is easily available. Recommended.

My wife and I stayed in the hotel from 17 - 21 April, 2015 during a city trip to Rome. The hotel is situated about 5 walking minutes from Rome Termini Station (exit via Marsala). The streets to the hotel are very noisy and rather filthy, but the street of the hotel is quiet and clean. Although there are many... More

The Astoria is a great little Hotel really handily placed about a 5 minute walk from the Termini and also were the bus drops and picks up from the Airport. It is also where the main tourist sightseeing buses pick up and drop off. The people we dealt with on the desk where very polite welcoming and helpful, the hotel... More

Great visit to Rome. Lovely hotel, basic rooms with friendly staff and very helpful. We had a had a garden room with bath. If you do as much walking as we did opt for bath to soak in after. Concierge recommended some great restaurants.

When I planned my 2014 Europe vacation I thought I did a pretty good at checking into the hotels and making sure they met my standards, and I'm aware that European hotels and American hotels are different. I was VERY disappointed in this hotel. The only thing nice about it were the orange trees in the courtyard - that's it.... More

Recently spent 4 nights here in March, very clean, good breakfast, handy elevator, balcony with pleasant outlook, helpful concierge...recommended a nearby resataurant which we loved so much ate there each night. Bathrooms are modern with great amenities, central location very close to Termini Station where we caught our HOHO bus each day. Beds a little on the hard side, but... More

We stayed here for 8 day on March 20. It was a very nice hotel . The people at the front desk could not be more helpful. Any question we had they were very happy to answer for us. They spoke English very well. We had trouble with the safe . The battery was low so we couldn't work it... More

Hotel was chosen due to location: quiet street away from Termini. The only good thing about our stay in Rome......staff very rude, unhelpful. After 1 night, we left and stayed at a better hotel. Avoid

I rarely have negative reviews on hotels but Astoria Garden took the cake! The drama unfolded before we even arrived... I mistakenly booked 3 nights at Astoria but only needed 2. When I called the hotel to make the correction, they refused to give me a refund for the one night, so I lost $157! I'm not too fussy, so... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
