Overview Stayed four nights in a deluxe room at the Sofitel Villa Borghese in Rome, Italy. Room was spacious, containing a king size bed, sitting area, desk, and large bathroom. Hotel is two-three city blocks from the top of the Spanish Steps, across the street from Villa Borghese (Rome's largest park), and the Spagna metro stop. Highly recommended for a... more

Spent two night at the Sofitel Roma prior to heading out on a Med Cruise to Egypt and the Greek Isles. The hotel was very nice, with a good location and nice room. The staff were helpful with our mounds of luggage and provided recommendations for all sorts of activities. Our room was very clean and comfortable--especially the bed. It... more

I read both the undiluted praise and the write-off moans on this site about the Sofitel Roma, and fall inbetween - but definitely on the more positive side. I was on my honeymoon and, having written to the hotel in advance, they offered various services. One of these to book us two tickets to the opera at slightly lower than... more

We were very surprised that anyone had positive things to say about this hotel. We stayed for four days this past month and were very unhappy with the hotel. The location was perfect and the staff very friendly but the hotel definately was not a four star hotel, even by European standards. The rooms were claustrophobically small and very "old... more

The Sofitel Villa Borghese is simply the best boutique Hotel in the centre of Rome. The staff is incredibly friendly and the location is perfect - 5 minutes to the Spanish Steps but also only 5 minutes away from the “tourist inferno”. The roof bar is very hip with an unbeatable view of the whole city of Rome including the... more

We have now stayed at the Sofitel in Rome on two separate vacations (October 2008 and January 2009), and we will return as many times as our coins in the Trevi Fountain allow. The hotel is absolutely first-class, especially by European standards that we have presumed by using Tripadvisor. We have always felt extremely safe and comfortable staying there with... more

Had 2 days in Rome to recover from the long flight from Australia before travelling on. Prime importance was a very quiet room and good bed and no hassles from hotel staff. The rooms are soundproof and very luxurious, the bed was heaven and the location for sightseeing was excellent being close to the Spanish steps, Trevi fountain and a... more

My husband and I couldn't have been happier. The hotel was lovely, the staff was friendly, attentive and always available when we wanted candid advice/suggestions. I did take a previous poster's advice and asked for a nice view of the gardens, which also provided a view of Vatican City (stunning)! more
