We have returned from a really enjoyable long weekend at the Mecenate Palace. The location is great, especially for arriving from Fiumicino airport as it is just 5 minutes' walk from Termini station. This also makes it ideal for getting around using public transport, and it's also right by the Vittorio Emanuele metro station. Staff at check in were really... More

Stayed for 3 nights on Executive floor which meant we were not in the main hotel. Overall very good stay, breakfast was adequate, view amazing from the roof terrace and in a good location. Only downsides were the new tax which really bumps up the price and the wifi which was really hit and miss. We purposly chose this hotel... More

I looked at a mass of hotels before our trip and this looked good on paper, it was even better when we got there. fully recommended for a fantastic stay. Me and my fiancee visited Rome for his birthday (he actually proposed on the roof of the hotel!) in January, and were extremely impressed by the hotel. The rooms were smaller than we thought they would be however the bathroom and location of the hotel more than made up for it, but the staff were extremely helpful and informative, even... More

sorry for the late review! This hotel is a palace! Amazing views, amazing location, amazing staff......and the food, no words can describe! The class, the charm, the ambiance, it is all perfect! Small lounge, cute dessert place downstairs on the street and the roof top patio is breathtaking! If you are in Rome, going to Rome then you must must... More

I stayed in this hotel for 4 days and 3 nights. I didn't expect the room to be this small but you'll get used to it after the first night. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean. Their breakfast was superb. You could eat cereals, pastries, toast with omelette etc... And their coffee was really delicious! A great... More

We paid extra for a deluxe room with view, which we thought was worth it as we had a great view of the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore directly opposite. We were given room 509 on the top floor which was dual aspect so we had views of the street as well as the piazza. The room was clean, tidy... More

I highly recommend staying in this hotel. It is scrupulously clean and in an excellent location - about 15 minute walk to the Spanish steps and most of the major sites. Although the bedroom itself is quite small the marble bathroom is spacious and luxurious so this makes up for it! The staff are friendly and the breakfast on the... More

Spent 5 days in Rome with my wife for my 50th birthday. The room we had was nice and spacious with a large bathroom, only complaint was there was only a shower cubicle. The hotel is centrally located and only 200 yards from the metro station. The desk staff were polite and helpful but the bar man Marco was a... More

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights (jan 18-jan 21) for her 50th birthday and overall had a lovely time in beautiful Rome. The hotel was good quality although a little dated , and the room was nice with a side view of the Basilica in the square. The only criticism was that the room was unbelievably hot with not... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
