Spent 5 days in Rome with my wife for my 50th birthday. The room we had was nice and spacious with a large bathroom, only complaint was there was only a shower cubicle. The hotel is centrally located and only 200 yards from the metro station. The desk staff were polite and helpful but the bar man Marco was a... More

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights (jan 18-jan 21) for her 50th birthday and overall had a lovely time in beautiful Rome. The hotel was good quality although a little dated , and the room was nice with a side view of the Basilica in the square. The only criticism was that the room was unbelievably hot with not... More

I went there in the roof garden for new's year eve. I paid 155,00 euros for a dinner with a special menu. The location was nice, also the live music but the food was disgusting. They served correctly the entrance but it was a little portion than the first course was terrible: it was supposed to be lobster but it... More

Perfectly located, spotlessly clean & friendly. English speaking staff that were happy to help & book excursions for us with no problems. Very near the train station & local hop on hop off bus route. Would recommend every time staying here.

Booked the trip as a surprise for my son's 30th birthday! We were not disappointed, hotel was great, an easy walk from the several main attractions. good quality of restaurants within walking distance also. Staff friendly, breakfast was good also. Only downside was the rooms are very warm and not able to turn the heating down, they also switch the... More

For a four star hotel it has a very good value for money. Most importantly the staff in the reception-all of them are really friendly. The restaurant on top has very good quality food and breakfast is very nice.

We stayed here in November during our first visit to Rome. The hotel has a great location, very friendly staff (especially the cleaning staff in our apartment!) and was very clean. We stayed in the apartment a few doors down and it was very nice. It was very easy to walk back over for breakfast or drinks. The bar/restaurant staff... More

We stayed a few nights in an executive room. It was a big strange at first, to arrive into the reception area, then have the front desk tell us a bellman would take us to our room down the street. But we did just that, followed him a few doors down and up a large staircase. There, it appears there... More

I've been to Rome three times since 2011, and the last two times I have had the pleasure of staying at the Mecenate Palace. I don't know what more you could want from a hotel - perfect location (near the Termini Station, countless restaurants, shops, and of course, right across the street from the amazing Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore),... Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
