The host was great! We were given a map and instructed which metro lines to take where. We were then shown to our rooms and bathroom. The bathroom had towels and shampoo and conditioner which we did not expect! Breakfast was yoghurt and packed muffins with cream inside which were really tasty! Breakfast also included juice and fresh coffee via... More

Needed a quickie for an over nite so trawled the net to find a cheap place to stay. The only problem was getting into the place.....not clearly marked and behind a fortress door. could not raise anybody and looked like having to go elsewhere.....but fortunately a person came out and with a fractured explanation managed to convey we were needing... Our family of 4 was well-accommodated here. The room was comfortable and clean. The location is very handy for transportation by train or metro. The light breakfast and espresso machine on site were also convenient - we could get going quickly in the morning. If we were too tired to go out for a meal we just went to one... More

The host asked me about the arriving time days before for they are not always in the apartment. And he waited us downstairs and opened the door. He was very friendly and ready to help. The room for 4 is not big, but acceptable and was cleaned every day. It was tidy and clean. And it was really a bargain... More

I paid 44€ (city tax included) for a night, 2 persons. I really loved the bed and pillows, this was absolutely clean, not cold (january) Mrs Fiorini, the old womand who runs the B&B, speaks only Italian (as a latin I understand) but is absolutely delicious and helpful. Emiliano speaks very well English. Also, don’t forget your phone, you’ve to... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
