The best might be the location, just a few minutes walk away from Trastevere, you feel blessed to enjoy the view on the city. The building itself is beautiful, the rooms are well decorated, and I had a great night. Only thing I would complain about is the lack of electric plugs, we are connected people, especially when on business... More

This hotel has everything to shine but it does not. Rooms : they are spacious but the quality of the materials and furniture do not make justice to the amazing building that contains them. In other words the building is gorgeous, the inside is cheap. Breakfast : Correct. Restaurant for diner : a disaster. Overpriced. Understaffed. Poor food. A waste... More

The Gran Melia was simply superb. Service levels are always my focus and the Gran Melia did not disappoint. The team there were really helpful, always ready to book a restaurant or guide us on our travels. Being local people, they had some insights on where to go to miss the crowds etc and were really great. The rooms were... More

We just came from a 4 days in the eternal city with another couple, we stayed at the melia. The rooms are not the biggest but it's smartly decoratedwith a transparent shower separating the bedroom and washing room. The service it's very nice, we forgot our 3 to 2 pin and they kindly provided us with some. The breakfast was... More

We stayed 3 nights here and received excellent service. The room was spacious with a nice view of the top of the Basilica and overlooking the lovely grounds including the pool. The breakfast buffet was very good with a large variety of items and delicious Cappucinos. We would not hesitate to stay there again,

Awesome hotel! Very well located and with the friendliest staff you could find. There was always a gesture from the hotel! The breakfast was delicious and great quality foods, also the decoration of the hotel was amazing and at the same time relaxing. While we entered to the hotel, it smelled so nice and even outside there's music. Definitely a... More

Our room had no spare bed for our child (although requested at booking), our 4 year old had to pay 30 euros for breakfast, salmon sandwich offered at 24 euros through room service, the view was over the next building being renovated, the spa forbidden to children and the outdoor swimming pool inaccessible in the winter. Quite a walk from... More

This luxury hotel is perfectly placed for visitor attractions near the Vatican (less than 10 min walk) and Trastevere (a bit further, and uphill!). The service we experienced from the moment of arrival to departure was of the highest quality, with a positive attitude and a genuinely friendly and interested approach from all the staff we encountered. Our room was... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
