I came in at 8:00am from an 18-hour flight and was very tired, the front desk woman wasn't so hospitable and warm. the bellboys never smile and have scowls on their faces. we were supposed to be on the 4th floor but they changed it to the ground floor. the room was small and has no view. breakfast was unmemorable.... Our travel agent suggested this hotel. It couldn't have been more perfect of a location. It is walking distance to Vatican City and also the Spanish steps (it is pretty much right in the middle of the two). The concierge couldn't have been more helpful. Clean rooms and the continental breakfast was perfect. It was much better than the continental... More

We stayed at the Dei Mellini 2 weeks ago and it was great. The staff were very nice and the complimentary breakfast in the morning was great. Don't get it delivered to your room though if you don't want to pay. It's free downstairs. My advice would be to go to a little grocery store on the side streets and... More

My fiance and I just returned from an unbelievable trip in Italy - starting at the Hotel Dei Mellini. It was fantastic and the hotel was extremely accommodating - they allowed us to check in way before our scheduled time as we had just arrived from San Francisco. We would definitely stay there again - the room, though small, was... More

As others have said, I couldn't believe that a hotel could have such wonderful reviews... that is, until we arrived! The service was exemplary, the rooms gorgeous. Even though this isn't the most expensive hotel available in Rome, we were treated as though we were royalty. Breakfast was a treat! Thanks to TripAdvisor for helping us find this place.

Just returned from 7 night stay at Dei Mellini. Rooms were very nice. Service was good, and although the breakfast room was quite small it was run very efficiently. The only thing that I was suprised with was some of the people on reception could be a bit abrupt. I thought the location of the hotel was good. It is... More

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights at the end of August 2005. The service and rooms were excellent. Very clean, very discreet, very upscale. The breakfasts were like poetry. People are very nice, friendly and always very helpful. Good for families (we stayed with 18 months old baby). Close to everywhere (Piazza Navona, Piazza Di Poppolo, Vatican, Spanish... More

I cannot say anything bad about the Hotel Mellini as far as it's facility goes. The rooms were clean, bathrooms spotless, very nice breakfast buffet, and great employees. It's about a one mile walk from the Vatican but if I had to go to Rome again I think I'd stay somewhere on the other side of the Tiber River. The... More

Stayed at Hotel Dei Mellini recently and have to say that it was a fantastic hotel. The location is perfect, about 10 minutes walk to the Piazza Navona and to the Vatican area. The hotel itself is lovely - clean, efficiently run, peaceful, with a lovely roof terrace which is perfect for relaxing for a rest after a long day... More

We stayed at the Dei Mellini Hotel at the end of August based on the Trip Advisor reviews. I would recommend this hotel to everyone, it is spotlessly clean, our room was brilliant. The hotel is away from the hustle and bustle but also within walking distance of all the sights. Remember your walking shoes! I can't wait to go... More

Staying in Prati

Neighborhood Profile
Just steps away from the chaos of the center, Prati is the closest Rome gets to calm. Meticulously planned in a neat grid, quite unlike neighboring Borgo, Prati is a local favorite for its aesthetic organization and wide streets lined with a range of boutiques for every shopping fantasy. Nonnis pushing baby carriages and gossiping teens own every inch of the sidewalk, but that’s only during business hours. Once the sun sets, quirky sidestreet bars celebrate aperitivo hour, those evening cocktails that help wash away the tensions of Roman life.
