A four star hotel, I was expecting more.. Breakfast room was small and quality of the food was poor (croissant, yoghurt, fruits from can!) One morning they didn't even serve cappucino (was only some quick coffee which tasted BAD!!) Staff at the reception spoke quite little english, sometimes was hard to communicate. Hotel has great location, termini is within walking... More

Location was excellent--walk to metro around the corner, walk an easy fifteen minutes to Forum or the Pantheon, walk to rail station only 10 minutes and grocery store 3 stores away! Luciano terrific help in terms of tourist places, assistance for restaurants and called for help with guides.

Rome was our last stop on an 18 day college grad celebration with my daughter and my mom. We had read positive reviews about the hotel and anticipated a relaxing stay. We booked a family room to ensure plenty of space for the three of us and were sorely disappointed to be crammed into an inferior two person room. The... More

We booked this hotel through Avios for a sightseeing trip to Rome, primarily because of its location, and were not disappointed. It's not the kind of place you would want to stay if you need an on-site restaurant, pool and gym but it's ideal for its comfortable rooms, excellent buffet breakfasts and situation, a short walk from Rome Termini station... Location was decent, next to train station, about a 20 min walk to Palatine Hill, good shopping around. Rooms were on the small side. Bathrooms were mostly clean, some mold in the grout but not horrible. Shower had half-doors so water got on floor, but that's how they roll in Europe. Not a vacation killer. Service was good - I... I’ve stayed at the Hotel Mascagni on three occasions, and it was only on the most recent occasion that I discovered that not all their standard rooms are the same. I didn’t realise that this room type comes with either a shower or a bath, so some rooms don’t have a shower. The room I stayed in only had a... More

First Marco and his staff are exceptional at breakfast. Marco has a lot of knowledge concerning Rome and is very helpful. Breakfast was great! The front desk is very helpful especially during the week. Be aware there is a 6 dollar per day, per person charge that gets added to your bill when you check out. This is a Rome... More

Marco and his staff makes this Hotel. Best breakfast and information! Very nice people overall. Basically a excellent 3 star hotel. They do charge an additional 6 per person tax. One of the bartender was exceptional during the week. It fell off a bit when he wasn't there. A lot of the people were proud Romans with great information.

I was traveling to Rome with my two teenage kids, one of whom is autistic. I stayed at this hotel for two nights at the beginning of my trip, then took a short trip to the Amalfi coast with the intent to come back for one final night here afterwards. I let them know of my plans and had even... More

We stayed 6 nights and were very pleased. The staff at the breakfast room were simply wonderful! Marco made delisous hot chocolate for my non-coffee drinking son. The hotel was well located, easy to get to sites. Room was a good size with comfortable beds. Could add conditioner to the toiletries provided.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
