We are a family if 5, parents plus 3 kids and were looking for a hotel that is safe, clean, with distinct location to stay in more than anything else, so we can just walk and avoid any means of modern transportation. Surly, we found the perfect combination in this lovely hotel. The staff are great and just a few.... More

Stayed 6 nights and we thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality and the location, definitely not too near the station, would recommend. If you're prepared to step out, we walked all over Rome from here, Spanish steps, Trevi fountain (although being refurbed) pantheon, forum etc. Nice breakfasts, charming old school staff.

Stayed here with my brothers in July 2014. Great 1st experience in Italy. Staff was very helpful & friendly, breakfast was wonderful. I liked the location, metro was at the end of the block, main train station was less than a 5min walk. I would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely a great place, and wonderfully located -- just off Piazza Republica and Metro Station, very near to Termini, Rome's main train station, less than a mile to Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and just around the corner to Rome Opera House. Rome's full of attractions, and this hotel is just on the edge of the Historic Center, (Pantheon, Piazza Navona etc).... More

Traveling with my Mother and Aunt, we spent 4 nights at Hotel Mascagni. It is in a great location and is in walking distance of all the popular tourist spots. The hotel was very clean and the triple room was confortable enough that we did not feel on top of each other. The breakfast offered was good with plenty of... More

We are a family of 5 that recently stayed at the Hotel Mascagni. It is a quaint, clean, boutique style hotel in a great location. I cannot say enough great things about our stay there, starting with the staff. They went out of their way to be polite, friendly and helpful. We asked several times for directions, restaurant recommendations, etc.... More

Lovely clean, friendly little hotel situated in a fantastic location in the heart of historic Rome. We were lucky enough to have a balcony room with great views over old churches and the market square. The staff were polite, friendly and helpful and the breakfast staff went the extra mile to ensure everyone got what they wanted to eat and... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Mascagni. We were surprised just how close it was to the Termini (approx 5-7 min walk with suitcases). The rooms were very clean, spacious and well maintained with strong wi-fi. Our room rate came with a good choice of breakfast which was served each morning in a lovely setting by traditional Italian... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
