This was altogether an excellent hotel for an older, single, female traveler. The food in the restaurant was excellent (menu is posted early in the day and you can choose to eat there or not -owner and his charming mother often are seen there dining - the wait staff at breakfast and dinner both are GREAT)! (The restaurant/nightclub immediately next... More

Just stayed at the Oxford in Rome. Dumpy and sorely in need of renovation. Cons: tiny rooms with beds and pilllows hard as rocks, dirty carpeting/ Pros A/C, nice staff, liked the location, decent breakfast. Would look elsewhere if visiting Rome again.,

I stayed at this hotel during the first portion of my trip to Italy. I shared a room with my cousin for 3 nights. The room was VERY clean and was pretty typical to what you'd expect in Europe. The service was excellent, from the lobby desk to the bartender. A complimentary breakast is offered daily (it was delish!). Although... More

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Oxford. The staff was very friendly & helpful. They are not as centrally-located to the major sites, but you can easily walk everywhere if you're willing. The hotel provides you with great maps of the city and we used it throughout our trip. The breakfast is good and the rooms are nice. The free... More

We stayed at this hotel on a short break for some time out together as a couple in Rome. The staff were incredibly friendly and approachable and nothing was a problem - which is what you want when arriving in a foreign city without any of the language. Our room was a great size with a view onto the street... More

First off, this is not a 4 star quality hotel, its more like 3. However the staff are excellent, efficient, attentive, discreet and are 5 star. The hotel is conveniently located, 5 mins taxi from station with many of Rome's attractions walking distance. Its a fairly small hotel and our room was pretty small and a bit tired, but impeccably... First off I'll get the negative stuff out of the way. - When we arrived at our (room 124) it was tiny! The bathroom only had a shower and not a bath (smallest shower in the world!) The queen size bed was along one wall with a mirrored wall on the opposite side, with the TV on the same side... More

This was a good deal through BA though cancelled once when we finally arrivede we were pleasantly surprised. Small but compact and extremely clean. Helpful staff in all areas of the hotel. We would definately consider staying here again this was our first visit to Rome. Nothing really to do with the hotel but why when the tap water in... More

We stayed at the Oxford during the last week of March 2010. Having read previous reviews we decided that this was agood deal as we got 5 nights for the price of 4 and had free upgrade to 'superior' rooms! Having pre booked a private cab from the airport, at a cost of 45 euros we arrived at the hotel... More

This hotel would not get a certificate to operate in the UK. The staircase from the ground floor to the second floor is so narrow than when I breathed in and pushed my shoulders out I was touching the wall on either side. Definitely no passing of anyone on the staircase. The lift is big enough to take two people... More

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighborhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighborhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighborhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 8pm.
