within 5 minutes walk of vatican. directly on central bus line; about 10-15 min walk to Metro (underground). at least 3 cafe/restaurants within 3 minutes of hotel. safe, clean, excellent choice for anyone visiting Roma. We stayed for 4 nights, and saw all of the city with this hotel as our base. we purchased a 3 day ticket good for... more

Good values rooms, and although simply laid out, are spacious enough and clean. The vicinity to the Vatican is a bonus if thats what you are in Rome for, but a nice walk down the river takes you into Trastevere and just across the river is the centre. We had a quadruple room that worked out quite cheap, and we... more

The property is on a side street near the Vatican Colonnade, with a grocery up the road, small trattorias (and chinese restos) souvenir shops (whatelse) and clergymen (and women !!!) Quaint elevator (but for three adults with 60-80 Kg worth of luggage, everything has to be choreographed). Rooms are a bit dated and dark (ours had a nice tree outside... more

The staff at this hotel was beyond rude. We asked for directions and they would not give them. We asked for a different room because the shower basin overflowed and they would not give us one. The air conditioing did not work and they said the service man was called. The air never got fixed. I asked where I could... more

If you are looking for a reasonably priced, no frills hotel very near the Vatican, this is it. I'm in Rome frequently and have used this hotel twice. Rooms are simple and fairly clean, although one in our group was on the lowest floor, (rear) and had bugs in the bathroom (which I guess is common in Roma). AC worked... more

I stayed here in January 2006. My girlfriend was working in Rome for a month and I just needed this place to sleep for three nights while I visited her. At first, the hotel looked very small from the outside and it was no different inside. The reception was very small. The lift to the rooms was very old-style indeed e.g.... more

I've stayed in other hotels in Rome, but this was by far the best value. The rooms may be dated, but I didnt really spend too much time. Some rooms on the upper floors even have a view of St Peter's Square and Basilica. This hotel is all about the location. The breakfasts are typical Italian, so don't expect much.... more

I stayed in Rome for 10 days at the Hotel Emmaus in November'05. I had a single room which was more spacious than I was expecting. I was a little apprehensive about this hotel based on the reviews that I read on this website. The major complaints seemed to be about noise from within the hotel and bathrooms that flooded.... more

My mom and I stayed here in early 2001. I booked the hotel online and was disappointed when I got there to find the photos were rather glossed over. The first room we got had no tub!!! It was a plastic crate that we were to lay on the floor while showering as the water pretty much flooded the whole... more

This is one of the finest examples of how mis-leading pictures on a web site can be. On arrival at the hotel reception and having been met by young man who just wanted to finish his shift we were ushered to our room. After a few minutes on our own I could see my wifes eyes filling up with tears... more
