We visited Rome for a 3 night break for my wife's 50th birthday. We chose Hotel Lirico for it's location, value for money and TA reviews and we weren't disappointed on any of these. OK, there isn't a big comfortable lounge/bar area, but if like us you are looking for somewhere that fits the bill on the above criteria then... More

We searched tripadvisor and once again were not disappointed. We wanted a good hotel near the Termini and within easy walking distance to all the main landmarks (ie pantheon 15 - 20 minutes) and that is exactly what we got. The bonus was great communication with the hotel prior to leaving the UK and Toni gave us a lovely welcome... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
