The hotel is set in a perfect location for seeing the sights in Rome without being smothered by expensive prices and tourists. However, the hotel itself was disappointing. For the money we paid we expected more. My partner and I aren't usually too fussy as long as the room is clean and fresh. I cannot review all of the rooms... More

The service we received was not very good, the hotel staff not very friendly. We had a room on the 3rd floor which was small everything in the room was small!!! The location is good as it near good restaurants (can definitely recommend La Cucina Nazionale Ristorante Pizzeria) and the Metro is just a short walk away.

Excellent Location. No free wife at the room. Extremely small room. I expect more for the money. Tiny bathroom. Nice and helpful staff. Breakfast insufficient. I little bit noisy. Clean room. Close to the central station.

Good points: Location to shops Location to Colosseum Location to Vatican Staff friendly and happy to help us Bad points: Room is dated and quite small (although when in Rome you don't stay in there too much) Shower too small Prices for bar drinks in the room but the bar is never open No coffee facilities in the room or... This small hotel is central for sightseeing and transport in Rome. My room and bathroom were very very small but clean and well maintained. The bathroom fittings were new.The bedcover was stained, although I did not need to use it. The air conditioning in the room was effective. Breakfast was ok. but the products were of inferior quality. The breakfast room is small... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, the hotel is in a very good location with 5 minutes walk to Termini station so it was easy to get around. Room was clean with the towels changed daily (we were in room Rossa) and the breakfasts were adequate. Also we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful.

Very disappointed in accommodations and rooms. Room was clean but dated in style. Staff was accommodating when sink clogged but desk clerk was far from friendly to us when we ask questions. Wifi only free when in the lobby. Breakfast wasn't as tasty and we ate out the following two mornings. Close to Metro and public buses which made getting... More

I stayed at the Patria Hotel 4-7th June 2015 with my 77 year old mum. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were helpful and professional. The room, though bijoux was good enough for our needs and there were clean towels, shower and even a bidet. There was a 24 hour BBC News channel, so I was pleased, but... More

Hotel very clean; staff very helpful. But single room (105) VERY small and basic. Disappointed - did ask if there wasn't a better room! Nothing welcoming about it, no pictures, minimal functional furniture - bed, chair, desk with small fridge under). TV on wall at foot of the bed (few channels; BBC World kept 'refreshing' every 10 mins which became... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
